This was in defense of his position that abortions should not be permitted in cases of rape and incest. Amazing. The man is a lunatic. Usually I make these threads with the hope that conservatives will defend some absurd action or statement. But in this case I expect most conservatives will agree his comments are bizarre and dumb. Even Liz Cheney thinks so, and she threw her own sister under the bus the get elected.

I understand the desire to be an absolutist where abortion is concerned, but King's argument sounds pretty ridiculous.

I think this Republican's sisters and daughters should be interviewed......I sure hope he doesn't have any....

But if abortion is banned, which means women lose the right to their own bodies, then surely it's a slippery slope to doing anything else to them...

Not unlike the vast majority of his arguments. Both he and Louis Gohmert are certifiable nut jobs.

It is NOT the Taliban that is desperately trying to take away women's right to their own bodies, it's Republicans....well, I guess it's pretty much the same thing......

That's just off the charts. I almost thought the guy was arguing some kind of Butterfly Effect sort of Sci-Fi scenario, where someone uses a TARDIS and eliminates the offspring of rapes or incest causing a domino effect thru time that ends up wiping out the population. You may laugh but the guy IS named Stephen King!

Steve King is correct if you think it through. If Adam and Eve were the first two people on earth did Cain and Able but their sisters or their mother could they have had children with!

Another TOP Republican sticking his foot in his mouth.

King is THE FACE of the GOP.

What a horrible thing to say.

Are any of the RW actually going to defend this?

I wonder how many women Steve King has raped in his life? It is a good thing he didn't have any daughters, since he is a fan of incest.

How is that anyone can vote for a man whose mindset creates, "What if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled those people out that were products of rape and incest? Would there be any population of the world left if we did that?" per the link in the OP.

And here we see the core difference between the two parties: when Democrats do stupid **** like this, pressure is put on them to resign. They don't always resign, like in Virginia, but at least the pressure is there, and it sometimes works (Al Franken).

There won't be any pressure put on King to resign. None. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised, but I think the GOP has completely gone off the deep end. What on Earth are you guys thinking letting people like Steve King and Roy Moore brand you? If this is where you're headed as a party, get used to defeat.

So but how does what you say about abortion or about those Democrats repudiate Steve King since you project the idea that you are against all abortion.

Got this one bookmarked. When some LW-er goes beyond the pale, I can state on good authority that s/he is THE face of the Dems. After all, it's AJ's logic and who here will argue against that?

And he was stripped of his committees, so I guess the GOP don't totally tolerate it. Which is setting the bar awfully low.

    Stripped of his committees?

He should have been/should be EXPELLED.

Of course, since King is THE FACE of the GOP, the Republicans want to keep him in Congress.

Yes he was because he became an embarrassment. Maybe there is home that the embarrassment in the White House will get stripped of his office.

It's going to be that kind of year for the GOP.

Every time a Dem messes up, a Republican will step in and REALLY mess up.

All Democrats running for POTUS would be anti abortion and pro life if babies could vote.
