What's funny about this whole thing is Fortune was said to be a far leftist site about 10 years ago.

 

I don't see whats so curious about this. It seems that someone directly involved in responding to the incident - maybe a first responder or someone working at the prison - posted some details to the internet slightly quicker than the formal press statements were made, written up and published on.

Lots of incidents lead to all sorts of immediate information appearing online before the mainstream media can put together their initial reporting (these days a lot of initial media coverage consists of repeating what has been posted on social media). The only difference here is that it wasn't a public incident so there was only a small number of people directly involved.

Look up the story of Shia Leabauf (sp?) when he tried to fly his little flag. They tracked him all over the world by triangulating flight patterns in the sky. Lolol

 

They’re essentially just forums a lot like this one but they have little or no moderation and (theoretically) anonymous posting, making them pretty much free-for-alls for whatever people want to post. Obviously the various people who want to post things that will tend to get removed from forums like this one will migrate to these places, leading to somewhat anarchic and extreme environments.

 

Most likely some 4chan Troll who posts Total BS 24/7 and finally got lucky (like a stopped clock).

Professional mainstream media sucks and alternative journalism is better and faster

 

Platforms for extremists/discussion of topics that would't be welcome (to say the least!) in most other areas of the web.
