Well, article says 5 teens are ages 16-18.
18 year olds will be looking at life in prison
17-16 year olds - depends on what prosecutors do. If they charge them as adults then these kids are looking at life in prison too. If they are charged as juveniles they are looking at a couple of years. I can definitely justify charging 17 year olds as adults.
16 is a grey area here.

Residential burglaries are not nearly as common in the US as they are in Europe.

    @arborville
Also, I read more on that article - one or two kids were arrested when they signaled cops for help as their friend was dying from the gunshot wound. The rest of the teenagers drove off and were driving with speeds of 120mph.

I think the ones that were arrested right away will be given better treatment then the ones that endangered a bunch of people on the highway on the top of committing the other crimes.

    Not in CA

First-degree murder may be charged when the killing:

    1. is accomplished by means of a destructive device, weapon of mass destruction, armor-piercing ammunition, poison, lying in wait, or torture; or
    2. is done in a way that is willful, deliberate and premeditated; or
    3. invokes the California felony murder rule because the murder occurs during the commission of certain serious felony crimes.
This is one of the reasons we don't commit felonies, because even if your accomplice ends up dead, you catch a murder charge.

    That doesn't stack up.

If that's classed as reckless discharge etc... common sense has flown out of the window.

What if a bullet ricocheted and killed a 5 year old girl sleeping in a neighboring house?
You shoot at the person you intend to kill. Cops do the same thing, by the way.

Nothing, because shot gun pellets wouldn't do that.

Hopefully now you see why America should restrict certain guns whilst retaining others, makes sense!!

Because you have so many enemies climbing through windows, try two things

    1) Invest in home security, how did they get past the alarm, did it not scare them?

    2) Protect yourself with a shot gun. Also, I believe they do blank cartridges for shot guns in case you want to try one first without panicking about ricocheting.

A shotgun is not for everyone.
I have 2 kids at home and prefer to keep my handgun in safe. If I were to buy a shotgun I’d need to think of buying some safe storage for it.

    That’s a law I like.
I remember a story a few years back where a guy was loading a stove off of a loading dock in the back of a department store after hours. (I think it was an inside job). Anyway, a cop seen him as thief was just pulling away and a pursuit ensued. At a high rate of speed, the thief crosses an intersection that has low portions (dips) on each side of the intersection for storm drainage. As he bounces through the dips the stove comes out of the back of the truck, cop swerved to miss the stove, loses control, hits a pole and dies. Thief is in prison for killing a cop.

Bullets go up, they then come down still packing enough force to wound or kill. Firing into the air is criminally irresponsible. Same with shooting the ground, its definitely going to ricochet and go somewhere you didnt intend that's criminally irresponsible.

You just think it's common sense because your cops do it and you're subconsciously avoiding questioning your own government.

Old Mill Creek is closer to Kenosha than it is to Chicago, so maybe it should be a suburb of Kenosha, even if it is in another state?

Yuppers, world star hip-hop is a thing. Endless videos of inner city youth beating the hell out of each other and then posting on youtube for the all the world to see.

Everything north of Chicago and up to and including Kenosha is considered Chicago metropolitan area.
I myself was wondering in the past why Milwaukee is not considered a suburb of Chicago if Kenosha is. You can get to Kenosha from Chicago using Metra (commuter train), but for some reason it does not go a bit further into Milwaukee. Who knows why.

If I was the bad guy in that scenario, I would hightail it out of there. Later on I would ambush you and take your gun because I know that you have one.

    That's the beauty of America.

Don't like the law? Move to another state!

My favorite legislation y'all have, is legal cannabis!
