I would never leave a firearm accessible by underage persons, but it worked out in this case. Kudos to the girl, not so much to her parents.

As I said, I would never do this.

If I have kids I will take them shooting, but I keep my firearms in a safe with both physical key and code locks.

If I am going to have firearms in the house (I am an avid sport shooter, sometimes for pest control) then my kids had better have great respect for them, know the rules, and know that this is a serious matter like driving a vehicle or working on AC power, not a topic for jokes or mischief.

All that said, I am near religious with safe storage, so this shouldn't be an issue - also I don't have kids haha.

 

We don't really need to make a case. The fact that there is no compelling government interest in banning them means that we have the right to have them.

Gun ownership does not result in very many more deaths than would otherwise have taken place even without the guns.

Someone who wanted to commit a massacre back then could have used a bomb, or arson in a crowded building, or even killed a bunch of people with a sword.

 

Why would people be concerned with those? They are already tightly regulated.

We already do the same with assault rifles as we do with machine guns.

No one has ever used an assault rifle in a mass shooting.

You would rather your children come to harm than train them in the proper use of firearms to defend themself? That sounds, well, horrible and sick actually.

 

Machine guns are not used because it would be a huge and inefficient use of ammunition. Machine guns are great for suppression to allow maneuver elements to flank and assault an enemy position. They would be hugely inefficient to conduct the assault themselves. Really the best weapon for assaults is a regular old handgun, which is why they are used in most shootings.

 

Oh I absolutely would teach my kids about guns, how to use them responsibly, etc - but I would not leave them access to a firearm, just as I am sure you would not leave a 3 year old with a firearm.

sure, assaults in small numbers, but the best for mass shootings is assault weapons and that is why mass shooters choose them

 

The cops have been turned loose to spy in all manner possible, and people who see something are now saying something, and with this help and power the cops have prevented many mass shootings since the west Texas town of El Paso.

As we both know, the end goal of the liberals is a total gun ban for the non-elites. They try to do this by creating a step at a ban, e.g., banning "Sat. Night Specials", small guns, semi-auto guns, guns that hold more than 10 rounds, guns that are scary, unsafe guns, and so forth.

The end result is gun laws like NYC. It is interesting that in these liberal enclaves elites such as Howard Stern and Donald Trump can get concealed carry permits. Apparently having a lot of money means to liberals that a life is somehow more deserving of rights. The "little people" not so much, -- they need to be controlled by big government.

The last time I read one of these political-forum gun threads I contributed money to NRA. I think today I will contribute to GOA.

 

They are under no legal requirements for police to protect and serve. If you don't think so you can Google the various court decisions on this.

In most places, the police protect and serve, but when you need a cop in seconds they are at best minutes away. Most of the areas where police will not protect and serve (to the best of my knowledge) are cities run by Dims who implement strong gun controls which means for the most part only criminals own guns.

I live in a State where anyone without a criminal record can carry open or concealed. I feel pretty safe here unlike how I felt working in DC.

This (link below) is my favorite gun control story. A liberal who had worked for a gun control pushing Congressman was stabbed (about 40 times) and stomped to death on a DC metro (in the afternoon) by 125 pound guy who then went from person to person saying "give it up", i.e., robbing them. That sh** would not happen where I live. In DC people did nothing - and unarmed what could they do?
