You seem like you might be another person that has no faith in the theory of Global Climate Change .

I'm pretty sure we would sell Florida before California. It's a shithole state maybe we could trick the Danes into thinking it's a good deal because it has Disney World.

No, I'm fine with science, what I'm not fine with is the cost to get the minerals.

Greenland will be a valuable resource in the second half of the 21st century. It would be great if we could purchase Greenland, but its not going to happen.

So, in your world, what happens to the people of Greenland if another nation buys it? When we did the Louisiana Purchase, didn't anyone in those territories become American nationals? And the people of Alaska?

Russians in Alaska were offered to either stay and become Americans or to leave. Russians organized evacuations for those who didn’t want to stay.
In these deals locals generally have options.

The outrage when President Andrew Johnson bought Alaska from the Russians in 1867 was huge, all kinds of fears of debt. He paid the Russians $7.2 million dollars for it. About 586,000 square miles, or about $0.02 (two cents) an acre..... Ya think we got skinned in that deal? Nothing up there but some fur bearing critters and flies. Oh, and of course a little bit of oil. And a little bit of gold, some zinc, natural gas, lumber, jade, some other rock stuff including opals, sapphires, rubies, garnets and diamonds; lots of fish clogging the rivers and surrounding seas. No decent beaches, hard to get a tan in a fur coat.

Greenland is rich in natural resources, including iron ore, lead, zinc, diamonds, gold, rare-earth elements, uranium and oil, according to the Brookings Institution, a nonprofit public-policy organization in Washington.

LOL! Would you like the option to become Russian or leave, should Russia decide to make a bid on the US?

    I didn't think so.

I never said they were, vman13 alluded to it. Owning people is called slavery. That's not good.
The point that seems to escape both of you is the question of what happens to the people if another nation buys another. I honestly don't know why you're having a problem with the concept.

Oh, this is an "investment". Interesting logic. One could call it "imperialism" but not if "we" do it.

I remember reading about Alaska handover ceremony. This was mentioned in there. I’m not sure why you even need a link - some Russians stayed behind, that’s why Alaska still has orthodox Christian churches. Some also left, which seems pretty obvious.

It was a stupid thing to post something that says that cal costs billions when they sends billion more to the feds than the feds send to them.

The red states scream about small government but line up at the trough unlike Blue states that pay more than thier share.

I didn’t. Say they cost billions, just that they take billions
