I said nothing of the kind; you are injecting your own logic into the statements of others instead of clarifying your impression. Trump was elected because he had the capacity to do what many people felt had to be done. The fact you aren't one of those people hardly changes anything; you have your say as a vote, so do the rest. The system has rules not unlike poker or courts, and the one who plays the game best wins. That is one of the reasons he got elected- he knows how to play the game when competition is tough- or dishonest or unfair, as was HRC and the news media. They have done their damnedest to disqualify him, and lost at that too. Trump won because he out-smarted the competition, spoke to the people with common sense instead of more hogwash and BS- and the validity of the win is proven by the economy, by the things accomplished in the face of the continued worst political conduct by the minority party in history. Tangible things- scores on the board, not the opinions of haters, are making the history.
The "what many people felt" is what is key. To paraphrase Walter Lippmann, the world in people's head and the world as it actually is are two different things. Many people felt that the singers of Milli Vanilli could sing.
I'll just wait for the evidence of collusion, Nazism, white-supremacy, racism, bigotry, divisiveness, authoritarianism, dictatorialism, all the other false charges regularly strewn about.
Those many people will fall far short next year, and then much of Trump's agenda will be removed in the first week of the new term
Yeah he got away with that BS last time. This time enough people see him for what he is. It won't work.
YOu do recognize that what people believe is not always true- perhaps you also believe that misjudging someone can result in your losing. Singing is an art with wild swings in people's view of it. Politics is a bit more tangible, where physical and economic results are more measurable. Most of the time, people vote their wallets- not their fantasies.
Yep, that was the whole point of my response. Yep, people have in the past and, despite his stupidity, some are continuing to misjudge Trump to this day, and as a result the entire world is losing because of it. Although people may have various types of musical taste, and someone's taste may change over time, if someone does not have talent for singing, they just don't have it. In the case of Milli Vanilli, people were literally fooled into thinking that the singers could sing, when in fact they could not. The point is that if someone is stupid in truth, you can't change it by vote. Not so. People vote for all types of reasons. Some vote for Trump because they feel that he is somewhat sympathetic to their white supremacist views. White supremacy is a fantasy.
There are some people (knowledgeable conservative Republicans) who feel the "Trumpfication" of their party is leading to the GOP's furious self-destruction.
I don't know of a single conservative that has ever supported the white supremacist theory, nor supported any group that might claim to be that. Not one. Nor has the president ever advocated anything of the kind- except in the minds of people so obsessed with hate they twist everything said into proof of some evil- which is indeed and evil thing to do. Tell you something else that is a fantasy- and that is choosing to believe that "white supremacists" are anything significant except in the minds of liberals and socialists. There are splinter groups and extremist groups of every kind, but most have no real impact because they are both small and powerless- grossly out numbered by ordinary people. Ordinary people who have give a great deal and worked hard for a very long time to treat everyone equally, except those who make themselves outcasts in society- and that includes a wide range of fringe positions. This is a lot like toxic masculinity and a dozen other wacko creations that are being peddled as some major issue by the left when they are mostly imaginary- and that is being done to use it as a political weapon, as a distraction from issues they have no traction on such as the economy, and to incite hatred and division among people. You buy into it, and you help the people who want to make all of us lesser human beings and easy to manipulate to gain power over us. Trump's appeal was far more along the lines of bringing business management to government- dealing with reality instead of fabricated stupidity, wasting time and money, and the gross management failures that plague government. People on the fringes always believe in imaginary spooks and plots, always place these conspiracies over taking care of the nation's business. They also tend to define the duty of government as giving them what they want, without inconvenience, effort or expense on their part. They have to have evil-doers to blame- be it the wealthy, the Russians, the NRA, the legal system- or the white supremacists. Can't have a lynch mob demanding justice for them without somebody to hang for it, and that is usually something imaginary.
And Hillary was all about the economy too- Hers personally, not yours, which is why the Clintons picked up $100 million in net worth when she was secretary of state, approving deals in return for speech honorariums and foundation contributions.
No one cares about minor lies and harmless lies. All politicians lie regardless of their political party. People care about the economy. Everyone wants to have more money. As it stands, Americans have more job opportunities and more money in comparison to Obama's administration. What's your problem?
There are also some knowledgeable Democrats who feel that the unhealthy obsession with Trump drove their party so far left that their party is simply unrecognisable. They worry that the Democrat party as people know it has already been destroyed.
Most successful people who assume responsibility for others well being are self absorded, think they are never wrong and great. This includes doctors, lawyers and most politicians. Nothing new there. Obama, the same but took a more intellectual approach; I am smarter than you and he talked down to us. He was arrogant. As far as him being repulsed by those that talk against him, don't support him, don't believe in him: he is no different than the Democratic Party who has shown continued hate for anyone that would rather elect and support Trump than elect a Socialist that wants to destroy our Democracy. Given the current Democrats running for the Presidency: Trump is a shoe in for re election.
