Thule Greenland has a major US airbase we pay rent on it. We also pay rent on Guantanamo Bay though the current government refuses to cash the checks because they want us out and cashing the checks would mean they accepted the deal first established in 1905.

Conservatives have run Mississipi and the south for years. Just becase they had a D in front does not make them a progressive. We pay rent in yokohama Japan and for our bases in Germany. I never understood why we have to pay to help protect other countries. It is not like our bases are not a boom to the local economies.

 

Manifest Destiny died in 1845 when we didn't annex Mexico. It had a brief revival after 1867 but died again when it became evident that we would treat the Metis even worse than the Canadians were.
