If we build our soils 1 to 2% we can sequester all the carbon in the last 100 years

This is certainly an encouraging idea!

Is it true that the soil can save us????

Is putting atmospheric carbon dioxide into the soil the easiest and most productive way to go rather than a Carbon Tax????

The theory put forward in posts #1 and #2 here is pretty much the opposite to:

Giving up just half your hamburgers can really help the climate
The bad news: to make really deep emissions cuts, most of us should probably go vegan.

Well I certainly agree with the author that if we could have a massive die off of the human population it might solve AGW.

You wouldn't by any chance be a fan of Robert Thomas Malthus would you??????

Since the time of his writings only a rather small percentage of the population got to read his theories.... due to how few of us could go to university until the last fifty years.

Are we facing 70 - 90 percent depopulation of world?

Probably another moron that doesn't understand plants/trees need CO2 to survive. Split the Carbon off the Oxygen molecules then the planet dies. Genius.

The only comment that I can make on that is that his being chosen to make a TedXvideo is a major feather in his cap!

Also... it is relevant that his theory seems to be backed up by some pretty serious thinkers like:

Sequestering in soil will have unpredictable effects on both C3 and C4 plants. Also...CO2 is only a small part of what is happening at this point.

I apologize in advance because I didn't watch the video I just read the synopsis or rather skimmed it.

It seemed to me that the approach was just really reforestation, revegetation, many levels.

I might have missed the part if they were talking about carbon capture or they were just talking about that in relation to the plants themselves.

Anyway, taking efforts to revegetate barren land, that seems like a no-brainer. Some ideas I've read such ad ideas for algae and stuff (seems risky) which concerned me more than a forest or other useful plants.

If plants will help the Earth breathe then by all means let's bust out those old John Denver records and play that song.

Plant a treeeeee, for your tomorrowwww.

Edit I do remember this I just flipped to the Ted video and I thought I saw that a couple years back.

How would they fertilize all the vegetables, assuming vegans don't eat manure grown veg?

And do we still have farting cows or do we shoot them all? India ain't gonna do that.

I've already posted this fact dozens of times --

CARBON DIOXIDE MAKES UP 0.04% OF THE EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE. We can 'put it in the ground', or whatever else amuses us, but we'd better not try to get rid of it! Carbon Dioxide is an organic molecule without which life on this planet simply could not exist!

Try mentioning that the next time you find youself in the presence of some half-wit who's gushing about how we're all about to die because of the dreaded Carbon Dioxide!

For philosophical reasons I disagree with your signature........
If.... G-d / YHWH / The G-d of Abraham EVOLVED......... and after billions and trillions of "years" of research invented Adam and Eve........ .then perhaps human life has essentially INFINITE VALUE TO G-D......
which would make a real estate boom in rural America / Trump territory..... quite possible in theory!?

    www.CarbonBias.blogspot.ca/

Could a real estate boom plus better Fed policy pay off USA national debt?

This post on the other hand..... I CANNOT disagree with!!!!!!!!

Am I way, way off to think that this ONE TECHNOLOGY... could be far, far, far, far, far better than a Carbon TAx?????????

My sig line is related to the overvalued stock market, and it intends no disrespect to anyone's religion...(?). After more than ten years of posting here, Dennis, I have found it is best to avoid topics that impinge too much on religion, per se, because you just end up getting your teeth kicked down your throat, and you never convince anyone of anything they don't already believe anyway....

As far as the big, hooptie, 'Carbon Dioxide Scare' is concerned, though -- well, it is simply the scam-du-jour! Hey, if you can get gullible people who have only the most shallow understanding of the composition of the Earth's atmosphere to sign up for a 'Carbon Tax', then some bunch of scammers is going to make a lot (LOT) of money, and more importantly, some political group is going to achieve a great deal of propaganda-power over the dumb, bovine masses! Like P. T. Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute!"

That is an excellent phrase for it.. scam-du-jour.

That is why I like the Carl Cantrell alternative theory so much. At least it does have many obvious benefits for whatever nations decide to go with it.

In my opinion what Bill Gates says after the twelve minute mark here is
in my opinion not as accurate as what Tony Lovell says.....
