    I can't imagine that even being humorous. It's a lack of a good education. Didn't those teachers just get a raise in their new contracts? Yeah, money well spent by California. They waste so much money.

    Around April I asked some of my 7th and 8th graders if they know who the Nazis were, and they didn't. Hitler, same thing. I was genuinely surprised.

    That is surprising. When I was a kid, if I wasn't taught about Nazis and Hitler through your basic history classes, then I at least heard about them in movies and TV shows, some of them comedies like Hogan's Heroes. Even today on the American Hero Channel they show documentaries about WWII, Nazis and Hitler, I watch them on most weekends.

    It's already out.... his current Hollywood movie has a typical Flamethrower/Nazi scene... Made sense in Inglorious Basterds.... Not so much here....

    I'm elementary so I wouldn't touch WWII, that's in the later grades. I do teach some grade 6-8 electives though; that's where I run into the older kids.

    One of the teachers told me a story about what he saw over summer. Some kid saw one of those old-style rotary pay wall-phones in a store and asked his dad if it was recharging. The stuff that we grew up with that kids have no idea about - it's rather enlightening when you hear what they think about it.

    Strange, Pacifica High School has a huge population of Asians and Latinos. White are a fraction of the student body there.

    I would like to see the actual full content. Trusting the Daily Beast on a "racist" issue is like Trusting Planned Parenthood with a pregnant black woman.

    This High School is no,
    Newport Harbor High.
    This is Pacifica High in Garden Grove, Orange County.
    Very racially mixed among White, Latino and Asian.
    Well there just are not that many Black people in Orange County, California. :woot:
    I think they have 1% or nearly so. Same for Native American.


    Is this a kids "good time" irritating adults,
    or are they really into the philosophy?
