But that would be titillating war. I thought the idea was to free Iran from the West by peaceful means.

My view is that the US needs to be pushed much harder to make a choice: get out, or bite the bullet and do what it needs to do. I don't see any totally "peaceful" means to stand up to someone who is anything but peaceful.

Of course, my preference is for the US to get out! But if it has to be, I prefer a war to a continuation of the current trends, which will bring some kind of war to us anyway, but when we have lost the few cards we still hold.

You are demanding that the US get out of Iraq

But we have interests in Iraq just as Iran does

Why dont the iranians get out instead?

I think the idea from Iran's point of view is Iran's survival. Clearly the US rejected 'peaceful means'. The alternative appears to be waiting till the 2020 Election hoping there is a change of Government.

Actually, I am not really demanding the US get out of Iraq, although it would be nice and proper. I am demanding the US stop trying to interfere with Iran's relations with everyone else, stop threatening Iran, and ultimately to give up on the idea of causing an "implosion" in Iran.

As for the region as a whole, it needs to find its own balance between its competing interests and currents. The US shouldn't be involved in any of that either. But that issue isn't something that I would risk an all out of war over. We can accomplish that through other means. In fact, Iraq is a great place for the US to compete fairly and openly against Iran. Let that competition be defined, not by arms and force, but who has the better ideas, goods, and things to sell and promote. I would be totally in favor of Iraq becoming a genuinely free and fair place for a battleground of the competing forces in the region, each having to play by one rule: no force to advance your agendas. All united to use force against anyone who breaks that one rule under any pretext or any excuse.

If iran would give up its intention to arm itself with nuclear weapons that would ease tensions considerably

Been there, done that. What is the saying: fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on both you and me. Fool me thrice, and shame only on me. The JCPOA was an absolute fraud on Iran and the criticisms of it in the US are almost all bogus. It was a fraudulent deal that saw Iran give up much of its nuclear infrastructure, only for the other side to renege on its promises. There are fools in Iran, and plenty of them, who like to try it again. Shame on them too.

Not ignorant, just selfishly arrogant. When a serial rapist and murderer enters my neighborhood, I’m not interested in his psychosis, delusions, or deliriums...I want him dead.

In other words, spare me the delusional rationalizations and excuses for an evil religious madman, put a bullet in its brain, quickly.

    Then the die is cast

A nuclear iran is unacceptable to the US and many Arab nations in the region

and yet the US reneged on a Treaty which it had spent 12 years making and which Iran was keeping. The US actions are not those of a country who wanted Iran not to have nukes.

It was a bad treaty that guaranteed only that iran would not go nuclear for 10 years

Which on the scale of world history is just the blink of an eye

You are the aggressors here and have been every step of the way since you reneged on the Treaty. That is why you are without support in the world.

One of the many falsehoods you have read and heard! I wish the JCPOA was anything like those who are trying to pretend it was a bad deal for the US, claim. The JCPOA did have different "sunset clauses", but one thing in the JCPOA that was basically perpetual was a guarantee by Iran that it would not develop nukes, backed by stiff inspections.
But why are we even confusing the issue in the first place? Iran had been for several years only 2-3 weeks away from having all the fissile material to build a couple of bombs when the JCPOA was negotiated. That is a fact based on actual inspections from the IAEA. So if Iran wanted to build nukes and risk things (it should have), it could have done so already before the JCPOA. No reason for it to destroy it all to then restart on that path 10-15 years later!

Having nuclear material for a bomb is far different from having a bomb that works

And iran continues to improve its ICBM capability to someday deliver a bomb over a target

Iran was keeping the nuclear deal. You are the people who did not. You are the aggressors. If you were not still the most powerful country in the world there would likely be a 'of the willing' against you. You are a very dangerous country intent on destruction - and how you can expect the world to believe that having gone against the Iran deal yourselves, a deal which Iran was keeping, you now have the cheek to blame Iran defies belief.

Having a bomb that works is the simplest and quickest part of having nukes. And Iran already had missiles which were capable of carrying nuclear warheads. Indeed, it is a self-imposed moratorium by Iran which has limited their range to 2,000 km. The only supposed technical obstacle to Iran was making a bomb small enough to fit into a warhead, but working on that was not possible under the JCPOA regardless of expiration of any of its sunset clauses.

How did they lose a limb? Hurling Molotovs? Sling shooting? Setting off incendiary kites?
Firing anti-tank missiles at school buses? Getting kids to be human shields and firing at
    Israelis?
Don't you think it's time the Gazans just did a deal with Israel? Peres offered them their
own seaport, airport, rail connection, industrial parks, open borders etc.. And instead the
Israelis got bombed buses, stabbings, shootings, thousands of rockets, incendiary kites,
    murder and kidnap tunnels etc..
And worst of all for the Palestinians - they refuse to do a deal, any deal, and instead want
to internationalize the issues. So far, in 1967 and 1973, this brought the whole world to
    the brink of nuclear disaster.
