I still think sending them to Puerto Rico should be considered. I think that's legal and a great place to live and be a part of the U.S.

I don't dislike illegals. There is a legal process that they don't follow. I like the rule of law. I got no issues with immigrants. I have issues with anyone breaking the law, recent immigrants or not.

No one knows what to do with the illegals. They can't be held in captivity for a long time. I think that's cruel. It would be much less cruel to send them to Puerto Rico. It's a territory of the U.S. It's perfect for them to have a chance at living the "American Way", while working on their citizenship papers. You can even legally vote there.

Lincoln was a progressive and a visionary. The conservatives of that time were the southern democrats who wanted to keep things the way they were (thus conservative). The Republican Party which had just recently formed was the more liberal, progressive party. They were fighting to keep newly admitted states from adopting the conservative policy of slavery. Then Lincoln, liberal, progressive that he was signed the emancipation proclamation which In effect freed all the slaves in America. Lincoln was a liberal progressive of his time and was even hated and considered a horrible radical by the conservatives. See what I mean?
