    Who knew?

After 3 long years of constant pissing and moaning by the left, I find it incredible that no one has even come close to making the big bad child conform to what your side considers acceptable.

    Trump's response was appropriate.

We can go back to groveling under the next Democratic president.

Trump reportedly wants to 'buy' Greenland. This is what it's like at the US's Arctic base there

Well, she did say the proposal was "absurd" I don't know, Trump and fans always rail against political correctness, but they can't take it when someone tells the truth about them. "Absurd" is the truthful characterization of this proposal. it's definitely not "nasty".

Well, I cannot take credit for this theory... I read it from Frum, with an assist from Maggie Haberman of the succeeding Real News NYT...

Later that day, I read an expansion of the Obama/Denmark theory. This one says it was somebody close to Trump (whoever that could still be?) that came up with this plan, since it seems a little too clever for Donnie to come up with on his own.

    1. Oh Crap, Obama is going to Denmark 2 weeks after us. The Capo will not be happy when he finds out.
    2. We need to get out of the Denmark part of the trip.
    3. Denmark still controls Greenland... We'll tell him it's time to buy Greenland.
    4. He'll make that public, Denmark will laugh at that publicly, so the Capo can cancel the trip with a pretense reason.

Obviously, this administration doesn't actually govern, so somebody probably has time to think this stuff through..

Of course it's not "nasty". Personally, I don't find the idea of the US (or Canada?) fully controlling this strategic island 'absurd'. The population of the entire island is less than 60K...

What is absurd is that anybody would think Denmark would consider doing this with Trump as president. I think that's where the PM was going, not that the idea itself is absurd.

Why would any foreign power go into a serious negotiation with an administration that cannot keep it's word and honor it's existing commitments??

I sort of agree. But I would say his ego is easily wounded. Nothing new there.

Well, I might have to disagree with you there... I don't really know his "nasty" ranking 25 years ago, but I've watched videos of Trump from the mid-90's time frame, and he came off as intelligent and had some well thought out positions. Certainly not presidential timber, but not a blithering gasbag either.

So I don't know what happened there.... I suspect he's simply suffering from early stages of Alzheimer's, especially considering the incredible daily stress...

Do NOT forget his father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and it's certainly believed there's a hereditary component to that horrible disease...

I don't know, running a TV show that ends with the enjoyment of telling people that they are fired, just for ratings. I think it takes nastiness to do that.

Yeah, but he had people lining up around the block for the chance to be told they were fired.... it's not like he actually fired people. In fact, we've seen time and time again he's incapable of firing real live people face to face, although that is probably more cowardice than lack of nastiness...

    SNIP
According to McDermott, the decision to fire someone can require an amount of courage. Telling a person they are no longer wanted or needed can be an uncomfortable situation.

"It gets to a leader's style," he says. "If you see people as objects to be used to achieve your ends, you're almost in a position where you don't have to show them respect as people, you just have to remove the chess piece from the board because it's an object."

You made my point. You only state another complaint.

If I were your leader, whoever that may be, AOC, Schindler, etc., I would be telling my followers, Don't give me your problems, give me a solution!

To you it may be news but lets call it the inconvenient truth...history that hasn't been revised in the name of political correctness.

It worked for NBC. CNN adopted the same "nasty" reality TV format. Zucker loves it. Personally, I think he could gain at least 30-40% more market share with the "fair and balanced" approach but I guess he figures another network already has a lock on that idea.

President Trump is doing what President Obama or Bush (43) should have done when it comes to the Chi-Coms.

What are you a globalist ?

Before Trump every country had tariffs including the USA.

Before making the "war tax" (income tax) permanent, tariffs was what kept the federal government tax coffers full.

Americas freedom is tied to her economic independence
Alexander Hamilton wrote: "Not only the wealth, but the independence and security of a country, appear to be materially connected with the prosperity of manufactures. Every nation...ought to endeavor to posses within itself all the essentials of a national supply. These comprise the means of subsistence, habitation, clothing and defense. Americas political independence." (Hamilton was saying, could not survive without economic independence.)

What got his presidency is that his opponent was selling more of the same when the electorate wanted something different.
