Coping with a struggling campaign and facing the reality that he wouldn’t make the stage at next month’s third round of Democratic presidential debates, former two-term Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper ended his long-shot bid for the White House on Thursday.

"People want to know what comes next for me. I’ve heard from so many Coloradans who want me to run for the United States Senate," Hickenlooper said in his video, addressing the speculation. "They remind me how much is at stake for our country. And our state."

Hinting at a possible Senate bid, he added: "I intend to give that some serious thought."

Well, I doubt I will start a thread on all the Dem drop outs this year, but this one is interesting, as I understand he's hugely popular in Colorado and would pretty much be a lock to beat Gardner if he were to run. Frankly, I'd expect any D to beat Gardner in Colorado in 2020, but this would likely clinch it.

I hope Steve Bullock gets the memo, since Montana would be a huge gain for Dems and Bullock would have an excellent there to unseat Daines..

I hope all the eventual drop out D's convert over to other public offices....

Hear what I'm saying, Senator Pete?

Anybody have any thoughts about Hickenlooper? Future in Colorado?

The field was just too big.... Inslee is out now as well, but Hickenlooper announced he's running against Gardner for Senate. I don't know who else is running for the D's in Colorado, but I have to assume Hickenlooper jumps immediately in the lead.

Colorado and Maine are 2 states the D's have to have to consider getting the Senate back and I think both are very likely.
