Thanks. As long as they come back I'm good - I'm getting tired of lugging them in and out of the house during the winter.

I haven’t been here in years. I can’t believe this thing is still going on.

What Thing. - The Thing - was a Sci-fi Horror Movie.
    one of the best.
Guys sometimes think their " thing " is also a major attraction.

That's nice - looks like an evergreen, too. What's the name of that plant?

Looks like it may be a bit large. I'd go for something that classifies as 'dwarf.' I don't know exactly where you are, but a nice contrast to the green and possibly yellow, is Midnight Wine Weigela Midnight Wine Weigela.jpg

Escallonia comes in different growth habits, depending on the variety. It's hard to find pictures of shaped ones.

Size aside, what do you think of the plant itself?

Both are nice. Just to throw another idea out there, variegated golden eunonymus wouldn't be bad, either

Now that I think about it, Mrs. Talon and I could use some variegated evergreens around our place...

You can always trim the Escallonia down. I've seen pictures of them trimmed like boxwoods and yews, although I prefer the natural look.

I don't know much about that particular one, though pink flowers are always pretty. But, do your want the extra work of having to prune and shape them, or just a shrub that is best in it's natural form?

I have had issues with the variegated eunonymous. Literally had to dig it out for years after the main shrub died. Would get these little shoots coming up 3 or 4 feet away from were the original was.

I'd like to find one that grows 3 1/2 feet tall, flat on top, in a rectangle two feet thick and as wide as my spaces.

Wow. I know some eunonymus are invasive. We almost made the mistake of planting a couple Burning Bushes we had growing in containers, but thankfully I did a little research on them before we stuck them in the ground.

I tend to like creeping phlox. Easy ground cover and pretty.

I could but I might Not.It depends on the definition of
" Not ".I might " not " like cotton candy. But then Cotton Candy
might not like me.It purposedly gets messy and all over places like
my hand and therefore my shirt or hair.
I do not like Cotton Candy for that reason and a whole lot more.
Plus it looks like fiberglass from a wrecked 60's Corvette.
Why on God's Green earth would I put that stuff in me mouth.
Then again ... watching porn does pretty much the same thingy.
I also don't cotton Bad Dreams. Then again ... Maybe Bad Dreams
    don't like me.Tink about it.

Beats what them fellars were made to do in :
    - I Was a Fugitive From a Chain Gang - { 1932 }
with a sterling performance by the Great Paul Muni.
They had to break rocks { boulders more like it all live long day }.
They were fed virtually what could be accurately described as Slop.
Basically just sorghum and pork drippings.Had shackles on their ankles
even when bedtime.Heavy Iron shackels that each chain gang member
had put on { Hammered on } when first arriving.
Muni had to serve hard time for a crime he never committed.
He got blamed for a café holdup and kept getting ripped off
big time by an unfair Justice system. After his first breakout he
manages to lead a very productive and successful life.Too successful.
He allows himself to surrender to authorities when his first girl/wife rats
him out due to sheer pettiness. He was supposed to serve no time because
he paid a high price lawyer to cut him a deal as long as he surrenders to
authorities. The deal was bunk. The high price lawyer conned him and
made promoises that were not verifiable. So Back he went on the notorious
chain gang with the stipulation that if he behaved he get early clemency.
He had to me made an example of.So behaved he did and to no avail.
He wasn't getting out.He played by their rules and was robbed again.
This time he spent his remaining years on the run.
In the last scene we see him as the authorities have managed to close
in closer with their dragnet. It's dark and early evening.
His Girl Helen manages to reach him and wonders :
" How do you live "
as Muni { James Allen } is seen creeping out from
    behind a garage.
" I steal " The last words from this classic movie.

I'm trying not to break any rocks. So far, I broke two. They crack pretty easy.

    I think it'll look OK.

Yep. They do a bit. It's really hard to find decent products, these days. I keep getting answered with: "nobody makes that anymore".
