We keep hearing how illegals are great people who work hard, they lower our crime rate, mow our lawns and bus our tables (in other words, they do menial unskilled work), but what else do they do besides that?

To answer that question, take a look at the DOJ's statistics on how many times they're arrested and what kinds of crimes they commit. On top of just being here illegally, they seem to like smuggling/selling drugs, fraud (identity theft?) and human trafficking. And they commit these crimes at a much great rate than citizens do when you consider their population ratio.

Finally, how much money is it costing us to track down, arrest, put the illegals through our court system, defend them and house them in prison? And let's not forget about the victims of their crimes, how do we put a dollar value on the horrors of rapes, kidnappings and murders which should never happen because illegals should not be here to begin with? (plug in the standard response by the left that Americans also rape, kidnap and murder people)

Arrest for Federal crimes....the FBI, DEA, IRS, ATF etc could all be involved.

Here's a link to the Federal Criminal Code: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18

Well of course. The federal government deals with illegal immigration a lot so of course is disproportionate number of arrests are for non-citizens.

You know that the feds are in charge of immigration enforcement, so that HEAVILY skews the numbers right ?

    https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/cbp-enforcement-statistics/criminal-alien-statistics

From the Dept of Homeland Security.

Teh numbers of illegals crossing the border that have previoud criminal records has dropped every year. This year will end at about 50% of the number arrested in 2016...

    hmmmmmmmmmm

Thanks, I had googled it already after I posted the question.
So several agencies but not ICE? was just wondering out loud if ice arrests are a factor but when I googled federal crimes and searched for immigration I found nothing, searched for visa (overstays?) and only visa/passport fraud comes up. Apparently overstay is not a criminal offense, just results in a deportation and 3 year ban.

duly noted: under a minute of research involved here so I could be missing something obvious.

In other words unless I overlooked something these stats are not padded due to immigration related arrests.

By definition, anyone coming here illegally is more likely to break other laws.

Did you happen to catch this part of the story?

Non-citizens accounted for 28% of all federal fraud arrests, 25% of all federal property arrests, and 24% of all federal drug arrests. The Justice Department identified the top five crimes non-citizens were most likely be prosecuted for: illegal re-entry, drugs, fraud, alien smuggling and misuse of visas

By definition, anyone coming here illegally has already broken at least one law ;)

(I get the point you were making.) :)

The figure is correct in that it counts as 'arrests' all of those who turned themselves in at asylum portals legally.

Lol...What do you expect when trump has his ice gestapo rounding up hundreds of working men, women and children who are not criminals just to pander to his deplorable supporters?
Then they have to let most of them go again because their cages are full of other poor souls whose only crime was to want a better life for themselves and their families.
Your stats are dishonest and bogus, as is usual for trump and his worshippers.

LOL, 'hundreds', big deal out of ten million. An illegal has very little chance of being rounded up and deported, unfortunately.

By definition? I guess that’s an alternative to, “it’s a fact” actually commonsense would tell me that anyone coming here illegally is less likely to break the law because he or she wants to stay and make a better life for his or her children

Statistics show illegals commit more crimes than US citizens, apart from their entering the US illegally.

I wouldn't enter another nation illegally, would you?

Just FYI, non-citizen does not equate to illegal. There are plenty of people who are non-citizens who are here perfectly legally including green card holders, temporary visa holders and family members and dependents of same.

That's before we go into detail about what crimes were actually committed and the greater likelihood those would be subject to Federal arrest. But the peanut gallery can't resist their usual chants of illegals, illegals, illegals!

Why not just bend the facts to fit the narrative?

Oh that's right, you already did!

I knew what I read in the friggin' quoted report which says "non-citizen" not "illegal" but you all read illegal because that's what floats off of the page whenever there's any mention of foreign born persons in or entering the country.

If a person with a green-card or even a valid visitor visa is nabbed at an airport on drugs charges (could be just cannabis which is legal in many states) that's a Federal arrest of a non-citizen. Their action may be illegal but their presence is not.

What's the point, they're all just illegals, illegals, illegals?

I think I'd be accurate in stating that most criminals commit their crimes in order to have a better life. Would you agree?

And why is everyone overlooking these numbers:

Non-citizens accounted for 28% of all federal fraud arrests, 25% of all federal property arrests, and 24% of all federal drug arrests. The Justice Department identified the top five crimes non-citizens were most likely be prosecuted for: illegal re-entry, drugs, fraud, alien smuggling and misuse of visas
