Of course it awful to wish someone dead over political differences but to pretend that such idiocy doesn't exist on both sides of the aisle is at best disingenuous. The comments here made upon the death of Justice Scalia were every bit as ghastly when they weren't worse. And equally awful comments have been made against Clarence Thomas. Many of the lefts comments Regarding Justice Thomas over the years by those on the left would have been thought racist had they been said about any other African American and rightfully so. And don't even get me started on the vileness that has been heaped upon Trump and those who had the temerity to vote for him.

I seen basically the same comments here about Koch's death coming from the other side. I've ignored both threads and all comments. It does seem to me that since 2000 that having differing political view points is becoming less and less tolerated. Whether that is because this is a political site where most are ultra, highly partisan or a reflection of our society as a whole, I'm not sure.

I wonder if this intoleration isn't somehow tied into some mass killings we've seen. Not necessarily only about politics, but a whole range of things, subjects, issues etc.

Then again, this may just be me as I don't think I'm all that partisan. Although others might disagree.

Democrats certainly canNOT take any high road here. Look at what Liberal activists and others have said about the passing of Koch. Bill Maher said he was "glad" and hoped the "end was painful." Or
"David Koch is gone. It’s a celebration," Frederick Joseph, who made Forbes 30 under 30 for his efforts to "expand media representation," said Friday on Twitter. "Imagine the turn up when orange satan is taken back to hell," Joseph added in reference to President Trump's future death. "I hope his soul suffers for eternity," added Jordan Weissman, an economics and public policy writer for the website Slate, who described Koch, as a "villain." And that was just the tip of the iceberg for the nasty Democrats.
You seem to want to blame just one side(surprise, surprise) when it is on BOTH sides especially the Democrats. You are entitled to your personal opinion on these people, but you shouldn't want to share it publicly with everyone else. Personally, I would have celebrated Hitler's death...but then, none of these people is on the same level as Hitler.

Two days ago, David Koch died, having battled prostrate cancer for 25 years. Bill Maher pops up with "F--K him. I'm glad he's dead. I hope it was painful".
David Koch was politically active and conservative, a philanthropist and also a very successful businessman who had built great wealth. Note where a lot of that wealth went:

$185 million- Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
$150 million- Memorial at Sloan-Kettering cancer center
$100 million- New York Presbyterian Hospital
$100 million- New York State Theater at Lincoln Center
    $66.7 million- Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
$65 million- The Metropolitan Museum of Art
$35 million- Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History
$26.5 million- M.D. Anderson Cancer Center
$26.2 million- The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York
$20 million- American Museum of Natural History, New York
    $20 million- Johns Hopkins University
$10 million- Jaffe Food Allergy Institute at the Mount Sinai Medical Center

There was of course a great many more; these are just those above $10M. Notice that none of those are political causes, the gifts he made benefit our entire society.

I wonder how much Bill Maher has given back to society? Besides mouth?
He has donated... $1 million dollars to a PAC to get democrats in the senate- the only documented contribution amount I can find.
He supports Peta, Comic relief, a few other animal causes. I don't think he supports human animals; saw nothing indicating that.
He makes $10M a year, has a net worth of $100M. Too poor to start worrying about society as a whole.

The OP chose to cast stones the point of the response to which you replied was that the OP had precious little high ground moral or otherwise upon which to stand. You seemed to take exception to that notion, hence my response.

I am sick to death of holier than thou types on both sides calling down hell and damnation on each other. I am especially tired of of leftist who have spent the last 70 years calling almost anyone to the right of chairman mao, nazis fascists racist and stupid, not infrequently all at once, as in the case of Trump, complaining about a lack of civility when we on the right call them out for their vicious calumny. The left who have spent the last 70 years doing everything in their power to destroy civility in politics in this country have no grounds upon which to complain when they get back what they have dished out for 7 decades.
Dude I was your side started this damn thread...Pot kettle indeed.

Please note donating money to PETA should automatically exclude one from consideration as a logical, rational human being.

When Liberals Got Mad and Protested David Koch for Giving $100 Million to a Hospital.

Union leader Minerva Solla took the mic and declared, "If there ain't gonna be no justice, there ain't gonna be no peace!" It's a phrase often shouted at gatherings of angry libs, but one that becomes especially poignant when used to decry the existence of a hospital that is also dedicated to environmental sustainability.

These activists were protesting the hospital around the same time that Ukrainian protestors were dying in the streets of Kiev and fighting a medieval trench war against armed riot police in an effort to oust their Russian-backed plutocrat president.

In 2012, former President Bill Clinton was paid $225,000 to give a speech at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., the same year the hospital laid off 300 employees.

Significantly, both Koch and Maher were/are professing libertarians. Same political viewpoint, different outlooks.
