    I just specifically said that the AR-15 in my closet is not the same rifle as the M4 that I take to war with me. I literally just said that. Repeating the same factually incorrect statement over and over will not make it factual. I drive a Chevy truck, it's not a Ford. I can call it a Ford if I want to, I can even put Ford emblems on it but no matter what I do it's still not going to be a Ford.

    But you are 100% correct, civilians can own "military weapons of war". Today at my local FFL I was browsing around and saw a Beretta 9mm handgun, the EXACT same gun that I am issued at work and take to war when deployed. It was on sale for like $150 for a Labor Day sale because they are pretty crappy guns that nobody actually buys.

    The rows of AR-15s, they are not M4's. Nothing anybody says, regardless of how often it is repeated, will magically make them M4's.

    Yeah except for the actual people who fight wars, as in the DoD, which is why we are issued M4's and not Ruger AR-556's.

    If they are weapons of war then why are we not issued those instead of the Colt M4's? They are cheaper and it would save the tax payers millions if we did that. Or perhaps they are not actually weapons of war which is why the US Government doesn't issue them to actual Soldiers who fight wars.

    The DoD is the "government" too, why are they wasting our taxpayer dollars buying up hundreds of thousands of M4's when they could be saving us money equipping troops with $500 AR-15s? They are both "weapons of war", one just costs way more and does a few different things. But they look the same and according to the "sane civilized world" they are basically the same thing so.....what's the problem?
