No, it's a way of reminding people that if they want the benefits of polite society, then they need to play by the rules of polite society.

Your way is chaos and dissolution.

Comfort is why I work for a living. I sure the hell don't do it because I love commuting in rush hour traffic. If some lefties want to make my life a bit more comfortable by bringing me breakfast in bed, cutting my lawn, and washing my toilets, I think I would quit my job and spend my days binge watching Gilligan's island.

I'd do that, plus rewatch all 7 seasons of Vampire Diaries.

But yeah ... comfort is earned. It should always be earned. Remove the earning component and we'll all just lay down and die. Those who think we're better than that are unrealistic about human nature. Or, simply need to believe it in order to avoid that pesky earning thing.

Is that a fact, now? Do you never get out of your cell to have a look around?

I do not really think you ought to be insinuating that others are naïve. Your idea is that because not 100% of the jobless population is eager to work you should, therefore, offer none of them employment. Who's naïve in believing they won't? You are simply being absurd.

Utter gibberish. You are living in a psychological illusion where up is down and logic is derived by starting anywhere (of your choice) between point A and point B. You will eagerly argue that subject "X" must have left early in order to have arrived so soon ignoring the fact that "X" himself says that he got a late start but drove like the dickens. "No, you didn't!" you will reply.

Well that would tell you if they are on drugs, but how would you find out if they "ended up on the streets due to events outside of their control?"

I did not learn anything about how non-profit organisations giving people a job is actually the GOVERNMENT giving people a job. That makes no sense.

Yeah, that's the title that I wrote for this thread which I created. That's what we're both discussing. You seem to think that they should have the right, but you don't seem to understand that when homeless people are charged with a crime, it is NOT simply because they are homeless. It is because they are illegally camping in an area that isn't allowed to be camped on.

I repeat: "Just be satisfied that you did learn something". Thanks to me you are just a little bit more knowledgeable ... although I can see that you are fully willing to discard it.

I learned something which makes no sense. Which tells me that your information is wrong. And if you were confident that it was accurate then you would be capable of explaining it further.

You are American, I am Swedish. I can explain it but you can't understand it. the American mentality has no equal understand/definition/application to humanitarian concepts. In order to make you understand some things, it would take a long series of questions and answers, some of them requiring even more explanations.

If I tell you that we consider "wellbeing" the A to Z of the national community (that encompasses just about everything) you won't have any idea what I am talking about because the U.S. doesn't lament over the destitution of its' own countrymen. So in order for you to understand, I'd have to take up each minute detail of life and apply it to our system of "well being". But you still won't understand because you have never seen it in operation and because you have an aversion to seeing the value in something you've never heard of. In short ...... You don't like it even though you don't even know what it is and the reason you have an aversion is that you don't have it in the U.S. so you think it can't be good.

I have provided you with answers to your question. You pushed it aside. Do you believe I care what you think? It's your loss, not mine. Your country has never attained such a high degree of Democracy and well-being as my country has and if that fact is lost on Americans then I am only willing to explain it to those who are eager to learn. The rest may flounder but they are not my responsibility. Sink or swim ... it's up to you. If I can teach people to swim I will, but if they want to drown then I'll turn away and help those who want to live and let the other ones perish by way of their own obstinance. That brings us full-circle back to you.

What makes you think that I'm American?

All I asked is how non-profit organisations relate to government. I'm not sure why that requires so much explanation.

What if an American was eager to learn?

Mosquito's; most people don't like being attacked by mosquito's while trying to sleep; after a while they tire of being bitten.

So admit it, you didn't read my response. You expect me to answer questions that I already answered .... including this one.

The people in the photo had tents. Maybe you don't see the police in the background? These gipsies are being dispersed from the ground they have been squatting. Note also that they are gipsies (Romanian gipsies for the most part) ....... they are not "our homeless". They were already homeless in their own country before they came to mine

Dear, I spent much of my working life dealing with First World drop-outs. After having LIVED in the Third World. Unlike you good folk, I can't pretend that First World drop-outs are just clean living and hard working folks, momentarily down on their luck. Want to see the real thing? Visit a Bangladeshi slum.

I'm not suggesting that no one is offered employment. On the contrary, temporary assistance when someone is newly homeless should always be available. As it is now. Oddly, though .. homelessness is increasing.
