The problem is, in the current system, they get far to much say. the millions of people in California should have more of a say over the thousands in Montana.

You mean like that of those with their high pitched whining constantly, incessantly, grasping at any straw available to paint Obama as bad as possible? And yet ABSOLUTELY FAILED. Give me a break.

You do realize that the only office that is not majority choice is President? All Congressional representatives are elected by their constituants by majority. The President represents all of us which is why we have the EC, so that tyranny of the majority doesn't rule.

    And they do:

The six states with the most electors are California (55), Texas (38), New York (29), Florida (29), Illinois (20), and Pennsylvania (20). The seven least populous states — Alaska, Delaware, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming — have three electors each.

We live in a world of hyperbole. The hurricane killed 64 Puerto Ricans. You must be confusing the the hurricane with the terrorist attacks of 9/11 2001.

Not getting your way all the time is not tyranny, it's just politics. Screaming fits only work if it's something daddy can fix for you.

Some conservatives are explaining how they felt about Obama on the golf course. Obvously, they don fit in your statement about conservatives. The endless hyperbole is pretty irritating - but entertaining.

The EC for president? Meh. it doesn't make a ton of sense that in Wyoming, an electoral vote represents the wishes of 192,000 people, while in California it represents the wishes of 719,272 people -- thus giving each voter in Wyoming 3.5 times the voting power of someone in California. But it mostly has an effect at the margins -- the number of people in Wyoming is small enough that their outsized power doesn't usually have much effect.

What I think we all should be worried about is the fact that every state gets two senators regardless of population, and our population is increasingly concentrating in a handful of states.
    https://beta.washingtonpost.com/new...alf-the-population-will-live-in-eight-states/

Meaning that by 2040, a supermajority of senators (70) will be elected by states representing just 30 percent of the population. That's WAY outsized power, allowing that 30 percent to pass/block anything it wants, over the objections of 70% of the country.

THAT is a real and serious threat to democracy.

This is after-the-fact rationalization. At the time, Obama was criticized for how much time he spent golfing. There was almost none of this "glad he's golfing, he can't do harm."

Trump himself repeatedly criticized Obama for golfing while president:
    https://www.sbnation.com/golf/2017/3/27/15073086/donald-trump-tweets-barack-obama-golf

    Multiple Republicans did the same:
    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...ayer-sean-spicer-reince-priebus-a7650691.html

Senate Republicans released a video in 2011 doing so:
    https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/169383-republicans-to-obama-actions-speak-louder-than-words

Similarly, conservatives relentlessly criticized Obama for his travel-related costs, but are silent about Trump's much higher travel costs (not to mention Trump's self-dealing, since he typically stays at one of his own properties, generating revenue for his business).

I think criticizing either one is dumb. Presidents are allowed to golf; presidents need to travel. It was stupid when conservatives did it; it's stupid when liberals do it now.

I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy.

It isn't a matter of occasionally not getting my way. It's a matter of a systemic problem by which the minority is given far too much power over the majority.

    Why do you bother?

The survey, which was conducted from July 20-21, finds that 23 percent of Hispanic voters approve of Trump’s job performance, a 16-point decrease from a previous poll conducted between July 8 and 9.

The poll indicates that Trump’s approval is down to 13 percent among African American voters, marking a 5-point drop from two weeks ago.

What does that backwards looking comment have to do with the Bigot-in-Chief's epic unpopularity with blacks, which was the point of my post?

You apparently have a very slanted perception of what has, and does happen in the world.

    Carry on.

"One previously unreported example: Since Trump’s election in 2016, critical “voter scores” — sophisticated polling-based analytics that the RNC provides to party committees and candidates — have conspicuously omitted an essential detail for any down-ballot race: how voters in specific states and congressional districts feel about Trump. Republican insiders believe these analytics are being withheld to try and prevent GOP candidates from publicly distancing themselves from the president or leaking unfavorable results that embarrass Trump."

California does have way more say than Montana California has 55 electoral votes and Montana has three. That's 52 more

What's 17 times the city of Montana.

What you're saying is Montana should not get any say at all in California should be the national dictator.

Turns Out The White House Was Behind Ross’ NOAA Threats After All
    https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/white-house-wilbur-ross-noaa-hurricane-dorian

"On President Donald Trump’s orders, acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney told Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross to strong-arm the NOAA into supporting President Donald Trump’s baseless insistence that Alabama was in Hurricane Dorian’s path."

Two things. 1. It is a gross abuse of power for Il Duce Don to have ordered anyone to interfere with the work being done at NOAA. 2. Wilburrrrrrrrrrrr Ross should have been fired months ago for LYING TO CONGRESS.
