I have not seen a general thread to discuss this third debate. So here it is. I thought that Biden, and Warren did 'ok'. Warren seemed a little more careful, cautious to protect her momentum than in the other two. Not a lot of stand out moments, but no real mistakes. She did not provide much ammunition for others either. Biden started strong, but seem to fade... In each debate there are moments where he seems lost... Those need to go away now because his opponents are running with them. Still he made some strong points especially at Harris expense. Sanders is just too johnny one note. That income disparity argument is one we need to hear, often and passionately but it should not be the only argument we hear from him. I am not sold on his one time loan forgiveness policy. its way too broad and it smells of gimmick, and I think it is lousy policy.. I don't think most Americans will be impressed either . I think Harris had a lousy night. She lost ground here. She lost her focus and got schooled by Biden on executive orders. Buttigieg did very well. His answer were on point, and he was alert and responsive to the questions. I think this was his best performance. Booker needed a stand out performance here, but I just don't think he got it. I have yet to here one solid policy statement come out of his mouth. The rest are barely worth mentioning. I don't think they will be around much longer.
Wow, looks like this was one riveting debate last night. I am on page 4 of "new posts" and this is the first thread I found about the debate appropriately titled.
"Trump is evil......bromides and platitudes...........Trump is evil..........bromides and platitudes.............rinse.......repeat I could only listen in spurts did they ever address the defict and debt, trade with China, what they would do if the economy starts to slow?
I saw a clip of Biden talking about having social workers ensure that parents have a radio or record player on so that their kids hear words. He sounded way older than his years. I think this has to be terrifying to the DNC. As I'm not hearing anything bad about Warren, I think they will do what they can to elevate her to front runner.
I would LIKE to see mayor Pete have a real run at the presidency. If only for the fact that after four years of hearing about “liberal tears” and “liberal heads exploding” having a gay man and his partner in the White House would be delicious!
Nothing changed. Top 3 is still Biden/Liz/Bernie (in that order). Castro tried WAY too hard to create a "moment" and fell flat. Everybody except the Top 3 needs to drop out.
I did not watch the debate end to end. Just bits and pieces. What I saw was a line of candidates just treading water, hoping not to sink. I would score the candidates' individual performances with, 10 ZEROES from what I saw and analysis I've read today. If excluding Tulsi and Maryanne was to create boredom, the DNC succeeded. Moi Don't ize,
They all seemed to be too afraid to really go after each other. It was for the most part a hug fest. Not a single one of them will be able to weather a storm from Trump on stage. You can tell they were all ordered to pay homage to the Messiah and never bash him again. They followed orders like sheep on this subject. I know now why they are dodging Fox News for a debate. Fox will make the Lizzy's and Bernie's of the world actually answer a question about how to pay for their paradise. If you taxed the rich 200% of what they make you still fall trillions short of what those two intend to spend and the liberal media always always lets them off the hook on that question. Every time they are asked they change the subject and get away with it. Here is a news flash for progressives, neither the squaw or the commune member has any intention of doing the things they promise, they know they cannot do medicare for all, they cannot give free college, and taxing the crap out of the rich is a guaranteed job killer. They know this and they are playing you for fools. Liberals cry every minute about Trump being a liar, what about Bernie and Hiawatha, are they telling the truth? You know the answer, but saying it out loud is too painful.
I’m just watching it now as I’m in the UK. I’m shocked to hear so much Spanish if I’m being completely honest. Is this really the best way to campaign? It’s unreal to watch. Even from a neutral standpoint, they are only limiting their voter appeal. It’s insane. And what is wrong with Kamala Harris’ voice? I’ve never noticed how drony it was before.
If the Democrats are serious about taking on the cost of higher education, I expect we will get free education or at least affordable education the next time we get a democrat as president.
I watched the entire debate last night LIVE on ABC youtube, excluding the two times that my internet cut out, so I missed a few moments. Well, unfortunately, I don't remember any of it. But, last night I think I was impressed by Warren. And, my favorite candidate Andrew Yang barely made an appearance. And was just standing there quietly for most of the debate. If there hadn't been time set aside for Yang to speak I don't think he would have appeared at all.
I wasted 45 minutes of my life before I turned the channel. This is the best the Democrats can come up with ? The socialist have to come up with a better platform than just defeating Trump and more free healthcare.
He's got a very good head on his shoulders. He just needs some experience and seasoning. I think he could be in the running for VP and he has to be on a short list for the cabinet a Congressional seat. . When he gets a nod, what ever it ends up being, Trust me, he knows exactly what is coming. They will create dirt. Come up with some 19 year old making a claim about a time in a lavatory when he was 17, doctor up a sexting and post in the Enquirer, or produce evidence Pete is HIV positive, or much more likely they will go after his husband. But all that stuff will do no more than fire up the same base of voters Trump can always fire up. The rest, including most moderates and independents will see this as slime. They are not going to be a problem. The only real worry about a gay male candidate, IMO, is voters over 55 who may be leaning for a Dem, but who still have not fully shaken their stereotypes, and just may not be able to let go of this 'problem' and that will be hard to measure in polling. But then again, I really did not think we were ready for a black president in a general election either. We are more tolerant that we get credit for sometimes. We definitely need to learn more about how his husband responds to these campaigns because he is even more likely to be a target for the dirty tricks committee. He needs to be well vetted before we put them on any national ticket, because its his face that they will superimpose on some gay porn, or try to turn into a pedophile instead of Pete's.
So this week I've been able to watch the opening segment of Colbert. I estimate his comedy writers earn a combined $2 million a year, but I could be wrong. His head writer might make $2 million a year! Last night they did an awful parody of a Texas song about the debate. Here's mine to the tune of Yellow Rose of Texas: There's a debate down in Texas. Does anybody care? The leader of the tensome's some sleepy dude from Delaware. He's not really much to speak of, but he's the best they've gut, Cause the Democratic Party these days is in an awful rut!
I have never understood the speaking in Spanish, which voters are they trying to appeal too? Every person born and educated here speaks English. A requirement to become a naturalized citizen is the ability to speak and read English. Why are they trying to appeal to people who cannot speak English and only Spanish?
And she is the last person who should be leading this country economically and against our foreign adversaries.
What candidate could win all the Blue, Hillary States, and a few Red ones too? Moi psst, only Tulsi Don't ize,
