Unless the US somehow convinces itself that Iran will not hit back at any action it takes against it, the idea that the US has any reasonable military options against Iran is absurd. At least, to me. Iran, along with its actual allies -- Hezbollah, various Iraqi militia, various forces in Syria, along with the Houthis -- are enough to turn the region upside down. I have gone over what a war with Iran would actually look like in numerous threads on this subject and you are welcome to visit them to find out. What I have said is what any informed military analyst who has studied the issue would tell you, unless they are paid to tell you something false.

This is also why the US has never been eager to engage Iran in an actual, direct, military war. There is no conceivable 'victory' for the US that can arise from something that will certainly take everything to uncharted territories that no person can reasonably predict or control. To put it simply, the idea of war with Iran, absent something that would truly justify it, would be stupid. And even if this attack, against a Saudi regime engaged in genocide and war in Yemen, was somehow directed from Iran, that would still merely highlight the kind of things that can happen with war with Iran. It wouldn't make those things any more palatable or justifiable to seek.

There is, however, a lot of pressure on Trump to do something. His own instincts are divided, while those who have his ears tell him opposite things. Under the circumstances, he decided to punt the issue to the Saudis. And so we now have to basically wait and see whether the Saudis choose to throw another roll of the dice, this time not against a rag tag group like the Houthis, but against Iran?
