Michael Cohen testified under oath before Congress that President Trump admitted to him and other staffers that the injury he used to get out of serving in Vietnam was not real, and that his family had paid a doctor to falsify his medical records. Trump got out of serving by claiming that a "burn spur" needed surgery to repair, and a doctor signed a medical deferment for him. He told his staffers, including Cohen "Do you think I'm stupid? I wasn't going to Vietnam", according to Cohen.

Trump and his family supported the Vietnam War, in which 58,220 Americans are confirmed to have died.

I served in Vietnam. It was a nasty war and especially brutal for those who fought in those jungles. A very uncomfortable life and not knowing from one minute until the next whether they were going to be killed or wounded by an invisible enemy.. The war was a total waste of men and money.

Except for the Jane Fonda types who gave comfort to the enemy, I have long forgave those who went to extremes not to serve.

And it was Democrats that started that war. What a hypocrite or have you forgotten the Rhodes scholar Just more of the double standard we've come to expect from lefties.

That Bill Clinton went to great lengths to avoid the Vietnam-era draft, that he used political connections to obtain special favors, and that he made promises and commitments which he later failed to honor, are all beyond dispute.

Refusng to serve is one thing. I can respect someone who refuses to be drafted because of religious or social ideals, but Trump supported the war,and was happy to see OTHERS sent to risk their lives, but he lied and cheated to get out of serving himself. To me, he is a worthless coward.

Politicians on both sides supported going to war, don't try to turn this is some "it was all the democrats!" BS.

Clinton is a coward, just like Trump

So is George W. Bush, who used his family's connections to get out of serving in combat when he was a pilot.

Nothing new here, dodging the draft and being a traitor are 2 different things, going to canada to avoid the draft was treason.

There were many influential men and their sons who evaded the draft since the day the draft started and they all categorically got away with it

Bill Clinton was in school. He was a Rhodes Scholar.

    Beginning of Vietnam War

The role of the United States in the Vietnam War began after World War II and escalated into full commitment during the Vietnam War from 1955 to 1973. The U.S. involvement in South Vietnam stemmed from 20 long years of political and economic action.

These had the common incentive of ending the growing communist domination in Vietnam. Apr 1 2019

    1. Cohen is a convicted felon.

    2. Cohen is a "credibly accused" perjurer, to borrow a term from the anti-Kavanaugh crowd (but this time it wasn't complete bullshit).

    3. The draft is immoral, anyone from the homeless to Jeff Bezos is entitled to dodge it and I applaud them in doing so.

    4. Even if the felon's lies are accurate, nothing in the statement says he illegally dodged the draft.

I assume that you must put Clinton and millions of other Americans in the same category.

Me too. It was the most stupid war we ever joined. It had nothing at all to do with national security.

Except I was there and it was all the Democrats fault, Kennedy and Johnson.
Why didn't you mention Clinton in the OP if it's about draft dodgers? Hypocrisy. Would all female candidates be considered draft dodgers. Military service is not a requirement.

Yes really. Eisenhower warned us about the military industrial complex. Kennedy started it, Johnson kept it going and Nixon ended it. You've been schooled.

Forging medical records and paying bribes to a licensed medical professinal to do so, in order to false earn a medical deferment is a felony.

If Biden did in fact lie about having asthma, then yes he is as bad as Trump, but the only evidence I have seen is far righters attacking him wihout actually citing any actual proof that he lied. If you can cite anything please do,

Clinton yes, but most regular Americans who dodged the draft did so because they didn't believe in war. I can respect someone who is a legitimate conscientious objector. I can't support someone like Trump or Clinton who have no issues with the war, but refuse to serve themselves when called upon.

Not what I saw. They simply did not want to serve in a very dangerous war. We had people who joined the Air Force to avoid the draft and that duty.

Clinton at that time was a regular American. Better educated than most, but that was about it.

1; If they enlisted in the air force they didn't avoid anything.

2; Many people claimed conscientious objector status, because they didn't believe in war. If they are legitmately pacafist, I can respect that.

I can't respect someone like Trump who openly supported the war, but would never have been wiling to serve himself. He used him family's connections to get out of serving, but then was more than happy to see other sent to die.

They avoided being assigned to an Army unit as a rifleman and serving in the jungle.
    Many does not mean most.
We don't know most people's true feelings. Most people, especially initially, supported the war. The anti-war increased as the casualties increased.
