"Trump asked Ukraine president to investigate Biden's son eight times in one phone call"

"President Trump reportedly pressured the president of Ukraine during a July phone call to investigate the son of Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden."

"The Wall Street Journal first reported Friday that Trump told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky roughly eight times to work with his personal attorney, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, on the matter."

    https://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...on-eight-times

Rudi confirmed it last night, and now it seems we have Donald guilty himself, actually supposedly pressuring a foreign entity to involve itself directly into America's election

Why not, anybody in the world saw getting knee deep didn't have any negative consequences in 2016, and they know fully well now that billy barr is Trump's stooge so he ain't going do anything, so what is stopping any of Trump's autocratic buddies from jumping in full force. As we see here, Trump wants them aboard, imagine what he has said to those that won't have to be pressured to aid him in 2020?

And of course none of the Trumpkins see no problem in any of this, probably Executive Privilege, but it is exactly one of the things the Founding Fathers warned against

I guess if Biden and his loser son have nothing to hide....well then.......I say we appoint a special prosecutor and allow him/her to spend millions to investigate BIDEN and his crooked son. In fact it should be made up of a team of Republicans ONLY, and they have to have given generously to Trumps campaign. And then.....if they find nothing, we then have congress not accept the results and investigate over and over and over and over again. How is that for fairness libs? Have you heard this story before, recently?

I have no problem with the DOJ asking foreign governments / police for investigative help. Assuming they go throttle appropriate procedural hoops and have sufficient probable cause. Even if the subject has political connections.

But it is totally inappropriate for the president to ask a foreign leader to investigate a political opponent. Or the son of a political opponent. I don’t know if that’s illegal but it sure should be.

It's what they do. Remember when we pressured apartheid South Africa? If Trump said this, great, he was trying to get justice.

This is way worse than Trump tower. I think this might cost him some moderate votes. His direhard bumpkin fans will only get him so far.

Like Biden did when he had that prosecutor fired? How about an American president trying to influence Israel's elections? Or how about an American president getting his intelligence agencies to contact 3 foreign governments to dig up dirt on Trump.

Yup, Christopher Steele was a foreigner. It came out the other day he was feeding his garbage to State Dept. Swamp People, and the Deep State justified their actions by saying there was State Dept. intel on it, which came from Steele.

The more publicity this story gets the worse for Biden.

You have to watch your thread title in current events... doesn't match the article...

But yes, this seems similar to Trump Tower, except that Don Jr. didn't initiate Trump Tower.... If this turns out to be what it's reported to be, this is much much worse than that attempted collusion.

    NO.

In fact the entire "narrative" as you laid it out (to be applied to Biden) is patently ridiculous.

Trump is clearly a Russian Agent (and Trump is a TREASONOUS National Disgrace).

    ^So, there's that. :salute:

Of course it's ridiculous... it's what they know...

The Trump administration had 2 full years and 2 parties of Congress to investigate Joe Biden potentially getting somebody fired IN UKRAINE so they didn't investigate his son from doing something potentially wrong IN UKRAINE...

You can probably see where I'm heading here.... What happens IN UKRAINE likely needs to stay IN UKRAINE.... they don't seem to be caring so why should we??

    Oh.... that's right... Biden 52% - Trump 38%

What the righties are forgetting is that Spanky was withholding the 250 million allocated to Ukraine.
I suspect the transcript will contain that little part of the bargain.

You might be disappointed.... word is that it won't...

The whistleblower apparently has a sequence of events where the money is likely mentioned at a separate time.

I imagine Trump figured a president of a country under the gun would put it all together... now we have to find out if Congress gets to as well...

Yeah, I don't know as it is all contained in one phone call.
Still need to sort out what the promise is. That's the kicker, I think.

If I were the President of the Ukraine right now I would have someone whisper to Trump that maybe I should get another billion in aid and 20 million for myself. :)

Gasp! Is that the missing part of the whistleblower story? The I.G. statement about multiple instances part? If it is - WOW!

If Trump will accept the same and turn over whatever is wanted to Congress instead of stone walling, sure. And if nothing is found, then Congress can investigate Trump like Congress with Gowdy investigated Hillary over and over and over.

    Yeah, It's a problem...
I think if it turns out that Trump threatened to hold up the 250 million unless they reopened the investigation I would move to the impeachment camp no matter what the Senate has to say about it.

Biden used 1 Billion of US tax money to get a prosecutor fired who was investigating his son. This represents serious corruption from Biden and the Obama administration. Trump not only has a right to investigate this matter, he would be remiss not to.

That is fake news, JET3534, and you have no substantiated documentation to prove otherwise.

Trump was asking a foreign head of state to interfere in American elections. That is illegal. Time for another investigation to pass onto the next administration for prosecution.

Oh, I'm pretty much already in that camp, regardless of whether or not it would be successful. But I understand the desire to be practical.
