Yes we agree. Trump haters have effectively shut down Trump supporters right to free speech with intimidation and threats of violence.

Shutting down speech he does not agree with is fine and dandy it seems.

My parents forced me to take typing, bookkeeping and shorthand classes so that I could support myself as a secretary until I found a husband. Such were their ambitions for me. I had two brothers for whom they put aside college money.

The joke was on them, however. Neither of my brothers chose college, and while I did not attend, I did achieve a six figure income, and a few of my employers assigned an admin, or secretary, to me or my working group. Sure would have been an easier road if I had been able to go to college, but taking my parents' advice, I got married soon after high school, had a baby at age 20, promptly divorced the jerkwad my parents had liked so damn much, after which my focus was entirely on parenting, as it should be.

Not all gloom and doom, though. My parents eventually came around to my feminist way of thinking and supported me any way they could. Your wife was very fortunate, as are most high school girls these days. I and other women of my generation had to fight tooth and nail for what they now take for granted. I just wish some if them were even a little bit grateful for that.

Sigh ... thanks for allowing me to vent. I'm going to the kitchen now to get some cheese to go with that whine!

A needless riot caused by the right wing who were hellbent on silencing anyone who dares to stray from their warped thinking.

    What?

It was all about people who wanted to remove a statue and those who did not....

The banner was displayed at a school-sponsored pep rally, so it was a school event.

It's not about that. It's a legal issue for the school district. I'm very much a 1A suppoter, but a venue such as a public school is not the place for it because it could be interpreted as supporting one side of the issue or the other.

And if you want to talk convictions, would folks here have the same free speech convictions if the cheerleaders held up a banner supporting Muhammad or denouncing Trump?

Besides, no one's free speech was taken away.

The lefties protested peacefully, the righties violently such as the guy who plowed into the crowd and killed/injured people.

I have answered that question before - as you and other righties know, lefties want MORE government. Antifa is ANARCHIST which means they want NO government. Therefore, they cannot possibly be leftist.

I'll allow you to answer that one. Kindly present evidence to support any position you take on it.

I love to straighten out the left's convoluted pretzel like statements and then drag them out into the light of day for everyone including the now embarrassed leftist that made them to gaze upon.

Yes an unexcused absence, so the school specifically sanctioned these students going to this protest so that means they have to allow students to attend ALL protest.

Schools should not be political and if there is a threat of any kind it should be thwarted. If kids had a sign for Obama and there were threats of violence that should not be allowed either. Trump has done a magnificent job of dividing this country in a way that I have never seen in my lifetime. A football field is not a place to hold political signs.

Would you be OK if kids had flags for
I do workshops on prejudice and very often I say to the young women how happy I am that they take all these opportunities for granted, but there’s a little tiny piece of me that wants a thank you note:) I envy them for the opportunities they have . My only option was being a teacher and I remember arguing with my father later on how I didn’t have options etc. and he looked at me and said, “but darling you love teaching” And he was right I might have missed a great opportunity because that was my passion. But who knows, I might have been a good lawyer or doctor

Before you get yourself all worked up let’s see when the next global protesters. Right now you’re just getting yourself worked up over a strawman

Just relating the facts and "global" is the strawman here. Schools were allowing excused absences for the protest, that is sanctioning a political cause by the government. If they allow it for one cause then they must allow it for all causes.

Not sure where you're going with this, but yes, the school has no right to decide which protests they can and can't go to.
