As much as I wanted to encourage students to get involved, I always kept political partisanship out of student council sponsored activities (I was the staff member responsible for student government) because it could easily have led to a situation like the one we're talking about.

IMO, I was responsible to the parents and students for their safety in events we sponsored, many off campus.

Same here. I had some who would ask me how I felt about an issue, but I told them it was inappropriate for me to talk about that. When things did get political in class, I could usually toss out some red herrings and get them away from the hot topics.

Talking trash? Will there be any fact-based arguments coming from you at some point.

Yes...probably....But why create a strawman because you will never get millions of young people from all over the world denying women’s reproductive freedom.

    Irrelevant.

I can assure you as a high school teacher for more than three decades that parents want us to keep politics out of school events.

Parents can supervise their young adult's participation in politics and political events.

More would if the schools treated the pro-life students and movement equally.

I would say that that's hypocrisy political views have been inducted in kids for decades.

Supporting our president isn't politics. Opposing people voicing their support on the grounds at school is.

So thanks for the hypocrisy but no thanks.

    Er, yes it is.

Supporting our COUNTRY isn’t politics. But supporting the president absolutely is.

I have to prove that holding up a “MAGA” or “Go Obama” sign is political? Really?

Did these kids put up a mega sign show me a picture please.

I don't have any problem with people saying go Obama.

He was the president I don't have any problem with people saying it now or supporting Joe Biden or Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders these people are running for president.

It doesn’t matter whether you personally have a problem with it. Supporting a particular president is inherently political. Duh.

Or one more reason to get involved in local school board elections or even run for election to the school board.

That won't do anything. The problem really is the teachers they have a union and it's surprising how many teachers actually disagree with the Union but society has made it so that if you're not part of the Union you can be raked over the coals.

If you ever wonder why schools are so far left why education is so far left look at where Democrat Party gets its donations from.

How shall I show that to you, if you don’t recognize that a “go Trump” sign is political?

What would you consider evidence of something being political?

first you would describe how you know its political. Do you know if it's political it not?

Well I would say something more than just basically your insistence. But how about a description of how you know it's political.

Teaching them how to develop and deliver an argument solves a lot of problems.

If we don't trust officials to make the call, we should probably find new officials.

You can replace them with an all LGBTQ squad. Something you can get excited about.

The school is acting in loco parentis.
You're wrong. Schools don't operate that way.
