The references to specific countries come from this and, as has already been pointed out several times in the thread, that list is limited because not all nations that have ratified the relevant UN convention, which unfortunately doesn't include China, India or the USA.

I've frankly not followed them very closely but I don't believe Thunberg has called out specific nations in her general statements, focusing very much on it being something all world governments and all of us need to address. Some people seem to be deliberately conflating different things to misrepresent the facts and lots of other people are falling for it.

 

I'm simply being accurate in my assessment, but accuracy tends to make some leftists nuts when it doesn't conform to the mythical narrative they've subscribed to.

No! The "strategy" is to "claim" that attacking a person for some personal quality (in this case you used the fact that she was a child as the excuse) instead of attacking what that person says, is the poorest form of intellectual discourse.

It is, of course, much worse when you do it to a bright energetic child. Not only because an adult should be able to behave like an adult in front of a child. But because we expect adults to educate children. Not attack them for having the audacity of being right.

Because that would require her to know something about emissions.

 

This is known. No one is saying otherwise. And I'm saying (and I think the girls "handlers" are saying), is that the west needs to lead in reducing those emissions. China is not going to listen to any speech at the UN regardless of if it's a 16 year old girl or an expert in climate science. The speech was not for China's ears.

Note: The speech could have been done much better and China could have been used as a motivator somehow, sure. But it is what it is. Most speeches at the UN are pretty mediocre at best.

Yep, as far as I know she never mentioned any country in particular. Really the address is too any nation listening. If this is true, then the title of this OP is a giant leading question and it needs to be called out as many times as is necessary.
