    Here's a fun experiment.

    Google Image the following query-

    "straight couples"

Once you're done scratching your head, search gay or lesbian couples.

Next, search "white couples". After that, try black, Hispanic, and Asian.

This one is really interesting; search "European people history", then do the same for various races. The Asian results are pretty interesting.

Wouldn't it be nice if Google and CO. simply provided a service, without the progressive extremism?

Why do you presume Google are in any way manipulating the results? Why couldn't they just be returning whatever images have been posted on the internet in association with those phrases? It seems perfectly natural that some pages with those phrases in them will also have images depicting the opposite, in the same way that a page about "healthy eating" might have a picture of a greasy burger.

And the reasons for the differences in what people discuss (and thus post on the internet) in the areas you refer to are probably the exact opposite of what you might like to image them to be.

Google needs to be broken apart like we did with the old AT&T

I'm not going to bother with either of you, because I'm certain you'd both take issue if the results were not as they are.

I'm not interested in going page after page trying to explain the obvious.

It could also be interesting to compare Google's results with another search engine like DuckDuckGo.

I have done that with many topics. The results can be stunning.

So you are cornered and your only argument is to make up arguments for other people and refuse to debate and discuss your own OP. Golden. You do realize that not everyone gets the same results, right? And that there is a lot that goes into the algorithms and, despite the snowflake kicking and screaming, there is no objective evidence of intentional political bias, right?

Interesting because I googled “straight couples” but then I googled the more specific term “heterosexual couples” and got two different search results

So maybe the issue is not the results but how you are searching

I've made an error, duckduckgo is just as bad, so clearly it's not just algorithmic, but involves how content providers are tagging their content.

    No matter.

The point still stands. Reverse the scenario, people would be outraged, Google would quickly correct the results.

Yeah, that's interesting, still a lot of gayness though. Probably due to the fact that most say straight rather than heterosexual.

*Shrug.* Perceived defaults are rarely tagged, while perceived variations are usually tagged. So I’m unsurprised that “gay couples” are regularly tagged as such, while straight couples are rarely tagged as such.

Not everything that’s unexpected is a conspiracy. Sometimes you just haven’t thought it through, or it’s an oversight.

Nope I think it is what honest joe said the “hamburger effect” that you see when you type in low fat diet. Don’t forget that google operates on an algorithm that will float most popular to the top

How would that account for the enormous disparity in results?

We have a tendency to talk more about the unusual rather than the (boring) usual. Same as you would get different results typing in “people with clean skin” versus “people with tattoos”

Or the classic novice English historian mistake of typing in “Prince Albert” and hitting “image”

Possibly, though if one were to image search "gay couples", only to be presented with what must be at least 50% images of men and women together, would it not be worthy of explanation and likely correction?

Am I supposed to believe that when I google "American musicians" the algorithms are so primitive that they cannot differentiate between Amercian musicians, and musicians that are African American?

But I know, you would rather believe some crackpot conspiracy nonsense.
