As I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican I do not care who it hurts worse. This is not about hurting politicians to me, it is about making sure those who manage public money have a history of doing well managing their own. I do not want someone who has issues with their own finances managing public money.

If a candidate doesn't want to release his tax returns, you don't have to vote for him.

Aren't you then on a slippery slope? What else must be released? Medical records? Juvenile records? Academic records, including disciplinary records? Military records, depositions from your divorce litigation? Your voting record?

I'm with Trump on this one. Vote for someone else if you aren't happy with his disclosures.

Normal course? Perhaps but this is not a normal President. The President obviously does have power over how money is spent as per taking money away from the military to use to build a wall that he claimed that Mexico would pay for.

I agree, and I can vote for those who say they will change the rule.

Even though it will end up hurting Democrats?

Or do you plan to change the law back immediately after Trump is out of the White House?

A slippery slope? Perhaps, but perhaps not. I am OK with a thorough vetting of a candidate, especially if it helps us to avoid future Presidents like Trump or Clinton. We should be led by the best of us, not those who are best at hiding their skeletons.

As I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican I do not care if it hurts either or both.

I'd be afraid any such law would immediately be revoked as soon as Trump left office.

Or we could wait for the next election to be over. How much push would there be for such a disclosure law then?

Would be nice to have a SCOTUS ruling on the matter. Their ruling becomes settled law of the land. As for how much disclosure, I am OK with a thorough vetting of a candidate, especially if it helps us to avoid future Presidents like Trump or Clinton. We should be led by the best of us, not those who are best at hiding their skeletons.

SCOTUS is pretty reluctant to take up cases, but might do so because this one involves the POTUS.

The notion that if the original Judge's decision is over-turned he should be fired is absurd. Many appeals do succeed, and not because the original Judge was incompetent or partisan. If it can be demonstrated that he was grossly incompetent or partisan, then sure, turf him out. But, what is wrong with what I gather is his basic premise that no one, including POTUS is above being investigated, including by State authorities?

What do Clinton and Trump voters know now that they did not know in Nov. 2016 that would have made a difference?

Little to nothing. Partisans tend to maintain party loyalty. Some switch sides while others become independents like me, yet some independents go onto join a political party. Overall and year to year I doubt that much changes.

Conservatives call them "nonviable" and never vote for them, because they must love the same old big gov, big spending, world policing, collectivist, corporatist republicans that have been in there for decades

Your comment has no relation to mine

Its the unelected wacko lib judges appointed by clinton and obama that have no accountability

If their decisions are overturned by the higher courts they should be removed from the bench
