Yes it is a combination. We need X calories to support our activity level. Consuming more calories than that is where the problem lies. Increase activity, you increase caloric intake. Sit on the sofa and you need to cut caloric intake. Activity also has other health benefits as we all know.

It wasn't designed that way. The concept was that people would pay into it through FICA taxes and benefit from those payments at retirement. The problem is that the government, in its normal incompetence, spent the FICA funds on other things. So government is the burden on society as is all social spending.

It can't possibly work that way. Some of the baby boomers are retiring now. When they started paying into social security the dollar was worth a lot more. If I had a dollar bill from 1964 it would only be worth a dollar now. Inflation alone bankrupts social security within four or five generations. And let's not forget that there are far more baby boomers then there are millennials and gen-xers. So less money is spread more thin.

well, per Trump the republicans two 10+ year wars cost us over 7 trillion, so I think that is the real burden on society, we were doing fine till Bush Jr, then we started rising in debt by about a trillion a year

My Parents went thru the Great Depression, and taught me to eat a balanced diet in moderation from the major food groups, and keep the sweets to a minimum. It has served me well. Oh and don't forget to stay busy or to exercise. Gotta burn those calories to earn those sweet treats.

yes it is. The money you put in when you were working when you were younger it's worth a lot more than the money that you take out now so you take out more than you put in.

So it's free s***, it's the government stealing your money to give it back to you which doesn't make any sense.

The previous two presidents perpetuated both so with Trump we at least see an end to the forever War. And that's why the Republicans don't like him.

no, the young republicans nowadays want to steal from the elderly and disabled that paid into social security all their lives - but this is really off topic

Red meat is healthy for you is the topic

When adjusted for inflation is the government stealing from the working class, as seems to be 95% if it's purpose.
You abandoned your GMO nonsense too.

We were doing fine until Andrew Jackson left office. He was the last president to preside over a debt free country. But, like I said, the FICA money has been spent on other things since it was instituted, wars included.

That wasn't planned either. And inflation results mostly from government creating and thereby devaluing money. It was a noble idea, but like all federal social spending, was handled incompetently. Nevertheless, a promise is a promise.

Incidentally it would have been possible invest the FiCA funds to overcome inflation. Don't tell me it can't possibly work that way. It simply can't work the way the government handles it. As I said, the government spent the retirement fund on other things.

You don't get it at all. It is the federal government that is messing with the economy.

Just to clarify what this researcher is, and is not saying

He is saying that there is insufficient good evidence on this topic

He is not saying there is good evidence in favor of red meat being healthy in any quantity

And, to further contextualize his propounded view, he answered a question in the following. Way

i asked Guyatt (the researcher) if doctors can advise people on even something such as whether a salad is healthier than a bowl full of sugar. He said I should tell them that “the quality of evidence is low, so it depends almost entirely on their preferences.”

    https://apple.news/AzfSnmkYmS5e-dyNr_q0h-g
I suggest asking your doctor if he agrees with that opinion Because the fundamental logic is exactly the same as used in the red meat study. So if you (and your doctor) do not agree about the health equivalence of a salad and a bowl of sugar... you might also be reasonably skeptical about this researchers opinion about red meat

Of course. But the government, in its infinite incompetence, has made a mess of the program. I'm not sure why you wanted me to confirm the obvious.
