I have to admit that the reports have so far been confusing and contradictory, as mentioned by the BBC correspondent, although something definitely happened since the Iranian foreign ministry confirmed there were explosions on the Iranian tanker. But it doesn't seem to have been a major explosion, as nothing really has been picked up by satellite showing major smoke or much change in the speed of the tanker.

The Saudi's failed. Because it's obvious that they did it.... if that tanker was hit with missiles. The crap that hit Saudi Arabia,... they still are not sure. It's all, accusations and couldn't have done by others,... but they lack the evidence. While it aint hard to do crap with a drone. That refinery is all to be seen on google. You can get the cords from it. You punch it in, end off they go.

There is a real easy solution. Trump reinstates the Iran agreement and discontinues his for no good reason embargoes.

Saudi Arabia did not fail. At the same time as Trump is abandoning the Kurds he is sending troops and more weapons to protect the oil in Saudi Arabia.

In terms of the attack on the Iranian oil tanker, given that there wasn't all that much damage, for now Iran is basically just saying that the tanker was hit by missiles, that we have good clues where those missiles were fired from, and that this will not go unanswered. In the meantime, however, Iran is hosting the president of Pakistan, who is trying to 'facilitate' negotiations between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

If Obama had not made that horrendous deal and given up that money the Ayatollahs would be much easier to deal with. None of this would be happening.

Which money are you talking about? There are sets of moneys being associated with the JCPOA. One had nothing to do with the JCPOA directly. It was a sum the US owed to Iran, and was facing an award from the Iran-US Claims Tribunal ordering it to pay several times the figure the US finally paid.

As part of the JCPOA, money Iran held in foreign banks in Iran's name, but which Iran couldn't transfer from those accounts because of the financial restrictions, were allowed to be transferred to Iran. The amount Iran held in these accounts was around $150 billion, but with all sorts of claims, liens, and other debts attached to these accounts, the actual money transferred to Iran was around $55 Billion.

The American media and politicians can't even tell the American public the truth about the most simple matters! Otherwise, the truth is that I was and am against the JCPOA and would love for Iran to pull out of it completely. It was a fraud on Iran in every way.

Damn brother, you need to change your username from CourtJester to IranianLover. You call shipping $1.5 billion in cash to a terrorist organization that will behead its own for disagreeing with the regime an agreement? Iran has been a piece of sh*t terrorist supporting country since the overthrow back in '79. Obama is a complete idiot for making a deal with backstabbing lying terrorist people.

Probably the $1.5 billion in cash given to the leaders of Iran.

We know where the money came from and who handed it over to Iran and lifted the sanctions that were crippling Iran.

They did. Because it's just so obvious that if there were missiles... that the Saudi's are responsible for that. Iran will probably have some reprisal in store. They just took them tankers from the UK as well.

President Rouhani is having a press conference in Iran for the Iranian press -- his first in a while and certainly since this incident with the Iranian tankers. One of the questions relating to the attack on the tanker and his response was quite interesting:
He said the tanker was attacked by projectiles fired from a vessel and that it was certain that the action was an act by a state, and not a case of terrorism (by a non-state actor). He said that Iran there is footage of the incident from the cameras on the Iranian tanker and debris from the projectile, both of which will be studied. But he was very clear and adamant: whoever was behind this, will pay a price and this will not go unanswered.

    p.s.
Before the press conference, Iran had also released (for the first time) photos that depict the damage to the vessel, possibly in response to claims that there may not have been any attack on the Iranian tanker. Pictures released previously did not show the damage but this one does.

So Iran is going to retaliate for the Saudi retaliation for the attacks on their ships and refinery?

I didn't hear President Rouhani name the state actor nor ascribe motives to the attack. He only said that Iran will not let this go unanswered and was rather clear that Iran will respond to this action against the 'state actor' behind the attack.

Of course the "state actor" will say "I had that coming" and then things will be all good in the region.

Do you know if that is the starboard or port side?

Edit: Just noticed that you mentioned that the attack came from a vessel which means my question is not relevant

? The shape of a hole is dependent on the panel make up of the hull (panels tend to be square) as well as where any missiles hit

I heard him say it was a vessel, but I could have misunderstood him as he was mainly focused on saying it was a state actor and there will be consequences. He did mention that Iran had a video footage of the attack.

Iran president says there is video footage of attack on Iranian tanker
