I'm still waiting for the peace part to materialize. Not holding my breath though. Trump is notoriously unreliable and flaky. His word means nothing at this point.

 

And why is Russia's sphere of influence in the Middle East a concern for the US?

If I recollect correctly, this US involvement in Syria was started by Obama and Hillary Clinton and their insistence of Syrian regime change.

 

If I was in charge I would have deployed US special and regular forces into the Kurdish region and declared support for a strong and independent Kurdistan, with a permanent US Presence military and otherwise/ They are the only people we can work with and trust in the region and if Turkey and not trustworthy it would be good to have one ally there.
