No because there is not a lot of circumstances when cops are sitting in the same room with criminals while those criminals commit crimes to witness the crimes themselves.. Instead they get information from any number of sources that one or more crimes may have been committed., and they investigate that information and find out if that information is credible and they follow the facts, and the law and the witness statements and the evidence by further investigating.

Cops are of a far more limited supply than crimes and criminals are.

I am dismissing this conversation now because its not up to my standards. I don't normally have to spend a lot of time explaining why our system of law enforcement requires police investigations of criminal charges before they file charges in an indictment. Kids are pretty good at catching on to this concept at a pretty young age.

TRUMP DOESN'T KNOW HIS OWN INTENTIONS....so HTF could I or anyone. He's dangerous because he's insane.
But back to your answer, he did publicly say Biden was corrupt so his intentions would appear pretty clear.

The president's position is patently absurd. He thinks he is entitled to more due process , earlier on in his 'impeachment' than the constitution affords a man being investigated and then arrested and charged for a capital murder.

Trump is not due any ' due process' at all, not because he is Donald Trump and an immoral idiot, but because this investigation is closer to what happens when your employer is deciding on whether you should get a write up in your personal file, or be fired than a criminal proceeding. Heck if he is found guilty, the same thing goes on his criminal record as if he were fired from Burger King.

Good news for Donald, if he is convicted in the Senate and removed, he can still get a job wiping ass in a nursing home which most criminals cannot.

If the house proceeds with scant evidence based on subjective things like a persons intentions then i predict impeachment will be an annual occurrence.

I sure hope you made this up. It’s beyond incompetent. Yeah, let’s release all testimony witness by witness so they can align their testimony.

Separation of witnesses is normally text book step one in any investigation.

This post was designed to show the forum why the House is trying to protect its process from contamination of publicity and 'democratization' in other words, don't take this literally beyond the facts that my dad was a DA and prosecutor in a small county in the state of Oregon. The rest of this is parody of the republican position. I am on your side. Now please do me the courtesy of rereading it with that view in mind.

mental state is always pivotal in impeachment. It was when Clinton was impeached because perjury and obstruction of justice both require evidence of either prior knowledge or intent as an element. The same was true of Nixon. Those tapes served a similar purpose as Donald Trump's public and private statements .

As for proceeding, the same people who want the House to vote right now on the summary of the phone call alone, and rush this thing out, are now telling the House not to proceed on 'scant evidence' The whole idea behind an investigation, subpoenas, witnesses and document gathering is to ensure the evidence does not remain 'scant' without sweeping it all under a rug for Trumpsters to put their couches and chairs over.

Ok lets change things up a little.

    1. Many believe this is only a political ploy to destroy Trumps chancr of reelection

    2. Many think it's a real investigation.

How long should the house be given to investigate given that they have been lying about him for years 3 years?
I think the house needs a very short leash. They need to have this to the senate by Christmas at the extreme latest.

Probably not. If he's removed from office, the likelihood is that he'll be prosecuted in the criminal justice system and convicted of felonies, resulting in his imprisonment.

That's incorrect on both previous impeachment proceedings.

Bill Clinton's blow job was "uncovered" by a whistleblower ... Monica Lewinski's pal Linda Tripp. It wasn't found in a vacuum, it was found during an investigation into Bill and Hillary Clinton's pre-presidency financial dealings with the Whitewater Land Company. Ken Starr could not prove any illegal activity regarding the Whitewater deal, so he grasped at the BJ straw and that gave him a victory.

The Watergate break-in was instantly caught, but the coverup afterwards showing Nixon's hand in it is what got him out of office, and that coverup was only found via intense investigation. Those who don't study history should perhaps refrain from debating it.

And what we are talking about here is not just a conversation between two people. There is nothing subjective about "I would like you to do us a favor though" in the context of that incomplete transcript, uttered right after Zelenskiy asked for more Javelin tank busters. Add to that what has become a virtual plethora of State Department and intelligence community witnesses willing to testify to congress, plus Rudy and his shenanigans on Trump's behalf, not ours, and we're way beyond just a phone call.

The "us" that Trump was talking about was clearly and without and question the American people, that is clear by the context of the conversation.
To suggest that it means the Trump campaign. Is a complete and utter distortion of the facts, it is a lie.

And THAT criminal proceeding is when life, liberty or property is on the line, and at every single step of that process, due process is 100% consistent with - you guessed it - a criminal prosecution in a criminal court ! You can be fired for you job for assaulting a customer at work. You can subsequently be charged in an indictment by the DA's office for the same assault but that does not mean your employer is responsible to provide due process in their disciplinary matters that precipitated the criminal complaint or that the criminal investigation must somehow provide you or your lawyers with access to its witnesses and its evidence and its processes before that trial is set for pretrial motions to be heard.

How the heck would any of us know that there is "no verifiable evidence"? The testimonies of various witnesses and whistleblowrrs are, of necessity, being held in private, and the House reps involved aren't saying much. The little that has been made public seems verifiable to me, and not subjective, just blatant.

So. This isn't a criminal proceeding .. so i suppose we will stop using words like treason? That after all is a crime..

So again how long should the house be given for their fishing expedition, oops sorry i mean investigation?

Please cite the law or rule stating that an official impeachment investigation requires a vote? And even if it did, the House would have more than enough votes for it. Grasping at straws? Still trying to defend Trump at all costs by any means?

Having a vote is just another right wing talking point that changes nothing about Trump's behavior.

Nothing about Trump's behavior has been proven impeachable. What is so hard about the concept of innocent until proven guilty???

So in your mind, an entirely personal issue like an affair with an intern is more important than corruption and election interference?

I have a feeling this subjectivity is why the founders left the impeachment section pretty vague.
