    Uh huh.

No, Obama wouldn't have chosen that course of action.

Obama's course of action led to millions of people flooding out of the ME, open air slave markets in Libya, and a lot of dead Americans.

I'm glad we're living in the present. Man.

He surrendered 20 miles by 250 miles of Syria's land and home to the Kurds, to Turkey.
I might ask what did Pence negotiate? Turkey got everything they wanted.

You mean like the tariffs Canada had on us? It goes both ways.

There is no way to get out that doesn't cause absolute chaos and bloodshed. We've been in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria for how long again?

Those people have been slaughtering each other since 600 AD. They're not stopping anytime soon.

I mean Canada is welcome to march their asses in there and show us how it's done. They won't do that will they though. They'll sit behind the US and complain as usual.

Trudeau can't even paddle a canoe, what the hell is he going to do? He's the Beto O'Rourke of Canada.

My contention is that none of us know if Erdogan would have invaded with 1000 of our troops there or not. Somehow I think if you were one of those 1000 you'd have a different opinion.

Go ahead and tell us your armchair vision of a correct "pullout".

LoL @ "chaos and disorder". What were the last 20 years over there? Hmm? Millions flooding into Europe. Open air slave markets. Toppling of rulers leading to the creation of ISIS.

    Give me a break.

There are ways to apply the pressure on leaders who do not play the ball. Obama's administration simply didn't do anything because Obama viewed Erdogan as an ally and a personal friend. It took him a decade to realise that Erdogan is not a moderate. Bloody fool.

Erdogan’s March to Dictatorship in Turkey

    https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/erdogans-march-to-dictatorship-in-turkey

"...Under normal circumstances, Erdoğan’s march to authoritarianism might be expected to provoke criticism or even economic sanctions. But since coming to office in 2009, President Obama has treated Erdoğan like an ally and friend. His Administration has continued to do so, even after the crackdown on Zaman and Cumhurieyt. Why? Because the United States desperately needs Turkey, a Muslim-majority country, in its fight against ISIS. Turkey hasn’t even been helpful in this regard—it has been much more focussed on bombing the Kurdish enclave in northeastern Syria, America’s most effective ally in the country—and there is evidence that Obama’s view is changing. In discussions with Jeffrey Goldberg, of the Atlantic, Obama said that while he once imagined Erdoğan as a moderate, he now sees him as an authoritarian and a failure.

That’s a start. Obama and Erdoğan are supposed to meet today in Washington. Let’s hope President Obama skips the diplomatic language and goes straight to the point: that any leader who jails journalists—and arms Al Qaeda and bombs the Kurds and jails his opponents—is no friend of the United States..."

Which he did not do it.

Boo hoo hoo. The people who were killing each other before we went there are still killing each other now.

Orange man bad for not sending thousands of Americans to die so you could complain about that too.

Canada couldn't help if they wanted to-they aren't major players on the world stage.

Agreed that Trudeau is just a blackface Beto.

Yup, and they started that war too. Just like Obama in Syria.

I wish they would give peace a chance.

You do realise the Kurds have their own terror group, if Trump opposed Turkey then he effectively supported the PPK who are a terror organisation. Being involved in this conflict between the Kurds and Turkey is fraught with danger.

Trump didn't start any of it, that's on Turkey AND the Kurds... not just Erdogan.

Glad to hear it. So now we can be mad both at what Obama did in the past and what Trump is doing in the present because they are two separate people who made and continue to make grave errors in judgment. Trump betraying allies who bled for us against our enemies is what's happening right now.

Yes, perhaps, but we don't know what happened between the Trump Administration and the Kurds. You can blame the people who were dropping the bombs.

But in any case the fives days of non fighting is welcome. Would you agree?

Except the fact that Turkey wouldn't have ever attacked until the US pulled back.

And yes, there are many different kurdish groups. I thought that there was a general understanding about which kurdish group we were talking about.

Anyways, the current situation rests on the shoulders of the POTUS and Erdogan.

That anyone could see this as anything other then total disaster is simply mind boggling to me.
