In December 2001 an airstrike carried out by a B-52 bomber inadvertently targeted a position held by U.S. special operations troops and Afghan militiamen in Urozgan Province. Numerous men were wounded in the incident, but Mattis repeatedly refused to dispatch helicopters from the nearby Camp Rhino to recover them, citing operational safety concerns. Instead an Air Force helicopter flew from Uzbekistan to ferry the men to the Marine Corps base where helicopters sat readily available but unauthorized to fly. Captain Jason Amerine blamed the delay caused by Mattis's refusal to order a rescue operation for the deaths of several men. Amerine wrote, "Every element in Afghanistan tried to help us except the closest friendly unit, commanded by Mattis," though he also wrote that "none of that was assessed properly because the [5th Special Forces Group] chose not to call for a formal investigation".

You really buy into the CNN bullshit, don't you? May I suggest getting a plane ticket and fly your ass other there....nothing is stopping you except for your big mouth.

U.S. taxpayers have armed and trained the Kurds. If they can't pull the triggers that we gave them, too bad. Stupid people can't seem to understand that the Kurds have been fighting for centuries and they were fighting ISIS before we were there.

That would be the ISIS that your messiah OBAMA armed.

Man, I wonder how many of the **** talkers in here were praising Trump for his wise and godlike insight when he selected Mattis in the first place. I bet it was the majority of them. You mess with Trump and the rabid fans turn on you in a snap.

You know that Trump hired him after 2001 decision, right?

War is inevitable in this world. Might as well not be stupid about it.

Oh we understand that Trump decided to abandon our Kurdish allies on a ****ing whim and left them to be slaughtered and tortured by the thousands because Trump does not have a ****ing spine and has proven time and time again that he will stab any ally in the back because it suits his current political and financial interests.

Maybe they'll transfer from fighting the Nazis in Germany since we have more than that there. Tell me again, what war is going on in Saudi Arabia?

Dude - you can't say that with a straight face with Trump sending additional troops into the war zone in the Saudi/Yemen conflict.
And keeping what had been a peace-keeping force with the Kurds was hardly an act of war - and considering the day they were pulled out, full on war was initiated by Turkey, you really haven't a leg to stand on in this debate.

There’s just so much dumb here. But the underlined is my favorite because it reminds me why your opinion is worthless. I would ignore you but I occasionally find your grotesque ignorance amusing.

Dude - really? The Saudi/Yemen war has been going on since 2015. Don't pretend otherwise.

That certainly does not change the fact that Trump was a Chicken Hawk draft Dodger who faked an injury to get out of serving. Wouldn’t you agree champ?

Which one do you want to protect here, both are allies? Can we be a little honest and say that these two have been fighting for 100 years and unless we stayed from now til the end of time this was going to happen again as soon as we brought our boys home? We're not talking about protecting an allies against a foreign enemy here. I think at some point you have to let others fight their territorial battles, we can not be the territory police we learned that in Iraq. Funny listening to you guys flip your philosophy to attack Trump though, orange man bad you tell us 100 times a day.

James Mattis, Bill Clinton and Donald Trump....all draft dodgers. Except one of those draft dodgers wants to get out of endless worthless wars in shithole countries, while the other two didn't.

Real talk: Leaving a small peace keeping force in that area was a minimal cost towards maintaining stability in a region which is fraught with unstability. And even if you believed that our troops absolutely needed to leave that immediate area, then you grow a spine and demand more time so that our Kurdish allies can make arrangements to defend themselves.

That line is right out of the Cheney/Bush playbook.
