Why is Trump impervious to events swirling around him?

Why is Trump impervious to events swirling around him? He is facing an impeachment inquiry, and his decision to retreat in Syria and betray our allies, the Kurds, has caused many, Democrats and Republicans alike, to question his rational and his motives.

Through it all, Trump does what Trump does. He flies into very un-Presidential, infuriating rages. How do we know this? He does it on national television, and he often berates reporters who ask him questions he doesn't like. Then he completely avoids the questions.

He holds most of news conferences on the south lawn of the White House to the tune of Marine One's chopper blades, forcing everyone, including himself, to shout.

He makes up scenarios he likes, regardless of the truth. The Kurds, who did the fighting and the dying, lost 11,000 troops defeating the ISIS caliphate. During the long fight, we lost three Americans. Trump claims he defeated the caliphate with his brilliant military moves.

In the face of harsh Republican recriminations along with criticism from the defense and state departments and the Pentagon, Trump doubled down on his dishonorable decision to abandon our ally in Syria, then claimed the Kurds were better off because of his decision as they are being killed off.

Recently, he extorted foreign intervention into our Presidential election, incredibly right after the Mueller Report detailed foreign intervention in our 2016 Presidential election on Trump's behalf. Trump held back nearly $400 billion in military aid approved by Congress, and asked the Ukrainian president "for a favor." He wanted the Ukrainians to investigate his political rival, Joe Biden.

He does all this in defiance of public opinion, as if the American people no longer count, Congress, and countless members of his own administration.

Why? One reason is, his undying, narcissistic view that he is the President, and he can do anything he wants.

The other reason is, he knows that the Trump Republicans in the Senate, not to be confused with real Republicans, will never remove him from office.

Consequently, Trump does whatever he wants and to hell with everyone else.

    Yup.

    It's awesome, isn't it?

We finally got a President that's a human being, and not a stuffed suit reading off a teleprompter.

Many of the "events" are MSM manufactured outrages for "Useful Idiots" to take in and regurgitate. Normal people ignore most of that noise.

.... a smart businessman. That's what most businesses do... and it's legal. They are not "two sets of books", they are two different functions.

Who fills Leftist heads with all this crap and propaganda? DailyKos? MediaMatters? MSNBC? CNN?

    WTF?

As only a scholar like you would know, congress can take charge. all they have to do is declare the US is now at war with Turkey. That should satisfy your demands don't you think?

Trump and his family have long had business ties in and with Turkey, the most visible example being the Trump Towers Istanbul, which licenses the Trump name. The Trump Organization describes the buildings on its website as “a landmark in the historic city of Istanbul” and it is the organization’s first and only office and residential tower in Europe, with offices, apartments and upscale shops. The Washington Post has reported that the organization was paid up to $10 million to put the Trump name on the two buildings.

It would appear Trump's foreign policy is being driven by his holdings. Of course, that is why there is an emoluments clause in our Constitution. Does that bother Trump?

Hell, no. He turns right around and announces that next year's Group of Seven summit of world leaders will be held at his private Miami-area resort, Trump National Doral Miami. Mulvaney told us today Trump won't make a dime off the summit.

Yeah, sure. Come forward if you believe that B.S. This is a bridge I would like sell you.

It never ends with Trump. Today, his acting chief of staff gave state's evidence in the impeachment inquiry.

Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney defiantly admitted today that the President held up military aid to Ukraine in order to pressure the country’s president into investigating an unproven conspiracy theory about Democratic corruption during the 2016 Presidential election. In that very same phone conversation, Trump asked the Ukrainian President to do him a favor, investigate the Bidens, more than likely, the real purpose of the call.

“Did [Trump] also mention to me in passing the corruption related to the DNC server? Absolutely—no question about that. That’s it, and that’s why we held up the money,” Mulvaney told reporters today.

In Trump's world, Mulvaney added, “I have news for everybody: get over it,” Mulvaney said, in response to ABC’s Jon Karl, who noted that what Mulvaney had just described was exactly the sort of “quid pro quo” arrangement that Trump has repeatedly denied. “There is going to be political influence in foreign policy," Mulvaney said.

This may get Mulvaney fired. That's easy because there is an "acting" in front of his title. Trump prefers "acting" advisors because they are easier to fire than advisors approved by the Senate.

Speaking of which, Rick Perry quit today as Energy secretary, joining a very long list of former White House staffers. Fact is, the list is historic, longer than any other President in our history. Perry found himself at the center of the Ukraine scandal engulfing the Presidency after he became one of the top liaisons between Trump and his new Ukrainian counterpart.

Perry revealed in an interview published yesterday that he was directed by Trump to approach Rudy Giuliani to address the President's concerns about corruption in Ukraine. Giuliani is Trump's personal lawyer, and he does not work for the government, nor does he have a security clearance.

Did I say it never ends with Trump?

Trump doesn't have a thing to worry about. Trump Republicans in the Senate, not to be confused with real Republicans, will never convict Trump. They are far more loyal to Trump than to the American people and our Constitution.

Why are we given only 15 minutes to correct a typo? That's ridiculous.

What an enlightened response. Over half of voters now favor impeachment and removal from office. I guess we're just victims of a corrupt MSM. As far as I can tell, based on countless posts, everyone but Trump is corrupt, every critic of trump is stupid, or liberal trash. You use the term MSM, how did that media get mainstream? It outperforms right wing media outlets by light years. So, how did it get that way? Buy deluding and lying to useful idiots?

Who are your useful idiots? Scientists? Teachers? Democrats? Independents (don't favor Trump at all)? Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran churches? Top military leaders? Who are these people? Me (I read the Atlantic, Time, WSJ, WAPO, NYT, books on history, politics, and leadership, and I search Google.News and Marketwatch)?

Maybe, better yet, who are the geniuses that hate the MSM? Perhaps you could introduce them to me.

He's impervious to all of this nonsense coming from the house because he loves this kind of fight. Where lesser men would start asking for forgiveness from a corrupt media, he tells them to go to hell.

400 million Sandy, not billion. Of course you're only off by 1,000 times over.

To your overall point. I don't agree with President Trump on many issues both political and personal and I don't like his so called "style" or his "personality".

But many people like the idea of a president who isn't swayed by the tides of opinion. Whenever he resists outside influences people actually like him more for it. Surely this is not difficult for you to understand?

He is impervious because his voters don't hold him responsible for anything he ever does, and they don't tolerate other politicians attempting to do so either. That doesn't matter so much for the Democrats, but it does for his fellow Republicans who are afraid to break with him on anything, other than a handful of them who do actually have consciences and backbones.

Trump's behavior is pure Trump, it's always been who he is. His voters have decided to act as is enablers, the same types he had when he existed in the private sector and did what he wanted without any accountability. Both Trump and those who support him share in the shame, although mental gymnastics have gone a long way to insulating both Trump and his supporters to this very basic obvious truth.
