The big question is why

We are now living in the greatest country the world has ever seen. People from other nations envy us, and millions have broken the law to come here. People that claim they hate this country never leave.

The reason this county is so great is our founding fathers gave us the Constitution and a Capitalist form of government. Yet we see many of the democrat candidates for president wanting to take us to a socialist form of government. The big question is WHY???? Are they not paying attention to history at all? In the last century socialism was responsible for the deaths of approx 100 million people. And----------- in the last 20 years socialism has taken Venezuela from the forth best economy in the world to poverty, and their citizens eating cats and dogs. Further no one can name a country that has raised it citizens economy and welfare to the level we now enjoy in the country right now.

So again WHY socialism democrats, why????

 

I'm not a proponent of socialism, but what they are talking about is more the Swedish style of socialism, mixed with capitalist elements.
And the Swedes enjoy a very healthy lifestyle and rank their government much higher than we do ours.

Swedens debt to GDP ratio is only 39%, while ours is over 100%. That's not a great success in comparison.
Sweden has a literacy rate of 99%. Not bad.
Personal debt as percentage of GDP is comparable to the US, but they get paid healthcare, so they're not as apt to get hit with unexpected medical bills that bust the bank.

The US is in debt for over $20 Trillion dollars. American households are another $15 Trillion in debt. True, we are a fairly prosperous nation because we know how to borrow money.

But of course the OP will wail about Venezuela again and pretend that's what some Dems are talking about, when the truth is they are talking about Sweden.

By the way - how many people has the Swedish government killed in comparison to the US government?

And we have gone nowhere but totally downhill for the middleclass and the poor since 1980!!!!!!And we continue seeing the rich getting even richer while all others sink further into debt.Have you looked around and seen how our country is falling apart with road decay,rotting bridges,airports,ports,sewer systems,public transportation decay,water systems poisoning people.We have NOTHING that is modern and 21st century.Most European countries are way ahead of us and much cleaner and more modern.

 

Because people are extremely dumb. So dumb some even think Sweden is a socialist country. Venezuela is socialist, Sweden is not.

 

And the Swedes pay approx 50% income tax and another 25% on sales tax. It is called a value added tax.

Example a $30,000 car ends up costing $37,500, fantastic deal right? Oh and in addition they pay thru he nose on gas tax too.

BTW several years ago when income tax was getting near 60% the Swedes said they had enough and back off on all their "wonderful" socialist free schidtt!!!!

IMO it is absolutely asinine to think some government b'crat is entitled to more of your hard earned money than you are!!!!!!

I for instance now that I am retired could be called lower middle class. Yet with both of our SS checks, and my retirement check we live as well or better than ever, and actually still put a few dollars in savings from time to time.

 

So you're one hospital stay away from insolvency. And then you'll be relying on the Socialist Medicare and Medicaid to make up the difference.

United States has 327 million people.

Nor is what the Democrats are proposing true socialism. You can't claim people who are proposing Swedish style government are socialists and then turn around and say Sweden isn't socialist. You're going to give yourself whiplash.

 

Well, if they are voted in on the merits of their platforms, that means it isn't being forced on us ... maybe on you, but not on the majority of voters.
I've had Trumpism forced on me, and it smells like week old fish - but that was voted in as well.

There is no such system as 'Trumpism'. We have our own socialist elements. They mostly work. We are too diverse of a society for any system to work best for all.

 

We have always been a mix of capitalism and socialism. There is no such a thing as purely one or the other. The question is, what are the limits of the role of government. This has to be considered on a case by case basis. There are some jobs that only the government can do. There are some jobs that are best left to the government when they involve the public good.

 

Try to build a dam or a nuclear power plant, without government money. You can't do it.

All due respect but the founders didn’t give us capitalism. They gave us freedom. Capitalism is an economic system that necessarily is produced from a free society. It is the ONLY proper economic system of free people.
Ironically the liberal left has no issue with chipping away at our freedoms for the “common good”. Their tool for this is government muscle. Force. They do it with smiles, but rest assured socialism is the end game. So to answer the question of why is this. Hatred of mankind. They don’t deny it. Their goal is complete egalitarianism where even the environment has rights.
I don’t even think they realize the evil that they believe in.

Do you think we would need to borrow so much money if it weren’t for socialist programs? The injection of socialist policies and government controls contrary to capitalism and prone to cronyism is what causes the need for borrowing. Not capitalism.

 

Then the same would go for Trumpian mercantilism. Looks like we need an alternative aside from the fringe left and the Trump cult.
