Very well said, The right tosses around the word socialism in a manner that shows thier ignorance of the system. Their attempts to smear with a broad brush just shows them to be bad painters.

The Daily Kos bans people who criticize HRC.

And the left tosses around the word "fascism" with equal abandon and equal ignorance.

The two sides simply cannot communicate and in fact I don't think they really want to.

Why can't people criticize HRC? All the Democrats on this forum kept saying in 2016 (after the election of course) she had way too much baggage to be the front runner...

Why all of the sudden is it some "sin" to criticize a person who has blatantly disregarded the laws and lied constantly?

    Do you support Trump?

No, you don't have to own it. The Russians consider her to be an asset. Therefore, she is a Russian asset. Whether she wants that or not is not relevant.

You misspelled "defend Trump and repeat GOP conspiracy theories about Clinton"

Yes, she pushes some liberal policies. But she still defends Trump and pushes GOP conspiracy theories about Clinton. No wonder you like her, as you repeat the same baseless conspiracy theories. Democrats can do much better.

They don't support free speech. I never voted for HRC or Trump and never will. A few years ago someone in Daily Kos blamed Nader for the war in Iraq and I pointed out that HRC voted for the war. Someone told me to "stop it" and I wasn't allowed to post after that. Now they're spewing hatred at Tulsi.

hell no they don't. You hear the president call the dems candidates socialist, as have many republican senators and congressman. I have not heard any dem candidate call trump or the repubs in congress fascist.

And the same on this board, left leaning posters are much more often called socialists than the posters on the right are called fascists. Both sides know what the words mean.

I have been called a socialist on this board because I think the wealth distribution in our society should be the same as it was in the early 80s, and that like Nixon I believe in universal health care.

Sanders calls himself socialist and Warren agrees with all of Sanders ideas. If the shoe fits ...

    And then there is this:

    and this:

And I get called all sorts of silly names, too. It really is no big deal.

You are entitled to your own logic, but not your own facts. I support Tulsi's common-sense policies totally. But, does this mean that she is my personal asset. Of course not. An asset is defined as an "item of property owned by a person or company, regarded as having value and available to meet debts, commitments, or legacies". So, if you are going to assert that a sitting member of Congress, a decorated senior officer in the military, with the highest security clearance, is a Russian asset, then simply back it up with facts. Stop simply projecting your own insecurities, irrational fears, weak ego and jealousies, in place of any evidence. Otherwise, it is only YOUR UNFOUNDED, UNSUPPORTED, RIGHT WING CRONIE RHETORIC, THAT IS NOT RELEVANT. From what I have read, people from almost every country on the planet, love her policies of stopping all wasteful wars, and ending all crippling sanctioning of countries to steal their ASSETS. Maybe all NON-chicken hawk war mongers, all NON-capitalist corporate profit buzzards, and all NON-corporate war profiteers, might just be sick and tired of seeing their sons and daughters, husbands and wives, loved ones and friends, coming home in body-bags, or just maimed for life. Maybe even our so-called enemies might also want to stop the body-count from rising. Maybe Tulsi is also a French asset, a German asset, a Canadian asset, a Greek asset, and an Italian asset as well. These countries also don't want to continue killing people for profit.

Did HRC(NOT Human Rights Committee), refer to Black Youth as "superpredators", or not? Did HRC refer to Trump supporters as "a basket of deplorables", or not? Did HRC or the Clinton foundations receive multi-million dollar donations from the Russians(Uranium One Controversy), or not? Was HRC the architect behind an illegal war with Libya, and the overthrow of Ghedaffi(claiming he was butchering his citizens), or not? Was HRC responsible for many foreign policies(use of drones), that have led to the death of a million men, women and children, or not? What role did HRC play in the Benghazi attack? These are facts, not conspiracy theories. The truth is not exclusive to any party, or person.

So, exactly what are these baseless, unjustified conspiracy theories are you talking about? Every comment she has made about Hillary, was based on facts, that more than supported her theory. So back-up why you are smearing Tulsi. What GOP theories is Tulsi pushing about Hillary? Democrats, Republicans, or even you, can do better than this.

Really, conflating slandering and accusing our political leaders of embracing extreme political ideologies, with just being "...called all sorts of names too. It really is no big deal", only showcases our poor understanding of human nature, historical context, or its political importance. Are you saying that if Sanders calls himself a Socialist, and if anyone who agrees with his ideas, then it must mean that they are also a Socialist? Or, could it only mean that they just agree with his ideas? Can you tell me what the logical fallacy here is? Here is a hint. Hydrogen is a gas, oxygen is a gas, therefore water must also be a gas, right? Also, since our entire Government is a Democratic Socialistic Government, calling yourself a Socialist or a Democrat seems consistent and logical to me. However, calling someone a Fascists must be supported with at least some evidence/facts. Since I have never heard of any other President or their party being called a Fascists or Autocratic before Trump, what is the evidence to support this claim? Maybe he is only a Liberal Fascists.

Does Trump inspire/incite his followers to commit violence? That is, the beating of a homeless man in Boston, the throwing out of dissenters at his rallies, or his use of military power?
Does Trump take delight in imposing massive Nationalist tariffs, or his Immigration and travel restrictions?
Does Trump believe in America First(and bugger the rest), and if you don't like it, LEAVE?
Is Trump's rhetoric divisive or unifying? I want my wall, and I will make anyone suffer until I get what I want(dictatorial). Do as I say, or else. I am never wrong.

I personally don't think that Trump is a Classical Fascists. I think that he is just an immature cowardly bully, that spews fascist rhetoric. But it is his Neanderthal narcissistic divisive rhetoric, that can lead our Democracy towards Fascism. Especially, if our Democracy needs to survive four more years of this political imposter. Assuming that he is not manipulated by master manipulators, into destroying the entire planet.

So these people are certainly justified in believing that TRUMP is a Fascists, or an Autocrat, because of his actions. But no one is justified in labeling any party of being Fascist or Socialist. It is just silly and politically ignorant.

This is how personable a true leader is. This is the trust that a true leader instills in others. This is what authenticity, and genuine human interaction looks like. This is what true empathy and sincerity looks like. This is what unscripted real emotions look like. This is what non-manufactured truth looks like. This is what our future hopes looks like. But for many her persona will always be just frightening and threatening.

Many presidents have been called fascists or nazis.

    http://marcuse.faculty.history.ucsb.edu/classes/33d/projects/media/AnalogiesUSPresHitlerMegan.htm

Homeless people have been getting beaten up long before Trump was even born.

I find Trump's restraint in the use of military power admirable. He has restrained the neocons.

I don't know whether Trump imposes tariffs and immigration restrictions with delight or if he does it reluctantly. How do you know? Is this a fascist agenda? It was the agenda of Democrats before the sixties. Free trade and liberal immigration policies benefit the owning class, not the working class. If you really wanted to lessen wealth inequality in this country, you would support Trump's agenda too.

The country is divided and it is divided by class. Both the Democrats and Republicans advance the agenda of the 1%. Trump does not, and so he is universally reviled.

    So, yes, he is divisive.

A lot of people want the wall.

Our nation is being ineluctably driven toward authoritarianism.. It is too diverse. Diversity leads to divisiveness because there are too many competing and incompatible interest groups. You are just complaining about Trump's divisiveness because he articulates the interests of a group you despise: white working class.

The only question we have is whether we prefer a right wing authoritarianism or a left wing totalitarianism. I vote for authoritarianism.

Well, I am glad we cleared up the issue as to whether or not prominent Democrats have called Trump a fascist. You have retreated from stating they do not to a position that they are justified in doing so.

Sanders call himself a democratic socialist. he does not worker ownership of production.
He does not call for state ownership of Railroads, airlines, Electrical production or distribution, or mining. he does think workers should have a seat on corporate boards.
he is calling for the nationalization of the 60% of heath care dollars now spent through private sources. Warren is not as far to the left as Sanders is.

An it is not just Sanders that he refers to as a socialist but all dems.

Yeah, she defends trump on some things. Not everything Trump does is bad. I sincerely believe we could have come to a negotiation with NK if Hillary and Obama did not go back on thier word to Qaddafi. She has expressed support when Trump announced we are getting out of Syria. As do I. She has criticized Trump for breaking the INF with russia, and starting up of a space war, She has criticized Trump over Iran and Valenzuela. She has criticized trump over his taxes. She did not vote for the military budget that passed.

Although my response was to another poster, my statement was, "Since I have never heard of any other President or their party being called a Fascists or an Autocrat before Trump, what is the evidence to support this claim". This doesn't mean that I am saying that no other President has ever been called a Fascist or an Autocrat. You are responding to a statement that I have never made(misrepresentation). This is called creating your own straw man to attack me. But thank you, I was not aware that Clinton, Bush, Reagan, and Johnson were called Nazis or Fascists. Clinton was called a Nazi because he simply admired Hitler. Bush, because he claimed to have some Nazi blood in him. Reagan, because he bombed Libya. And, Johnson because of his carpet-bombing of North Viet Nam.

Do you even know what Fascism really means? Here are two videos that can help. and a simpler video, It is not just about any one individual act, or simply asserting that your are a Fascist. It is a political and social ideology, backed up by Fascist policies. What specific Fascist government policies did these Presidents create? What Laws, Bills, Legislation, Amendments, or Regulations, did they enact? So, simply calling these Presidents a Fascist or Nazi, is more of a smear than a fact. Right?. Power is in the hands of the people, not in the nation, or a single leader. We also have a Constitution that mandates that the people are endowed with certain inalienable rights. I can understand anyone calling Trump a Fascist, based on his actions alone. His use of Executive Orders(132) to by-pass Congress and enact his own policies. Eighteen of these orders were the subject of court imposed injunctions. The rest were useless and redundant, and only created more unnecessary and costly administrative bureaucracies. https://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-trump-executive-orders-ineffective-20190327-story.html . Many think that capitalism either creates or uses Fascism as a tool to destroy the workers' movements, and to secure the rule by the upper classes if it is challenged. It does so by appealing to the people's most primitive needs and fears, while actually pursuing the interests of the already rich. Under a Fascist Dictator, it is not a very good idea to be popular with the people.

Presidents ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO DIVIDE THE COUNTRY. PRESIDENTS ARE SUPPOSE TO UNIFY THE COUNTRY. But, we do agree that Trump is a divisive President. Do you think that 5 more years of a divided country, is a good thing or a bad thing for our country? Knowing this, is this the type of President that we should vote in again?

I was talking about the rhetoric of the President of the US, inspiring/inciting others to do acts of violence. Are you saying that since the homeless have always been beaten up, that Trumps inciteful rhetoric is irrelevant? That he is not responsible for what his followers do? This is the same cowardly argument Klansmen leaders said about lynching Black Americans, torching Jewish businesses, or curb-stomping Gay citizens.

A lot of people never even heard of a wall. Until Trump's fear mongering made people believe that the country was being invaded by hordes of criminals, rapists, murderers, thieves, and job-stealers, from across the border. Did he also mentioned that the US was responsible for many of the refugee problems, because of its crippling sanctions in Latin American countries? If Trump was gleeful and proud to take credit for shutting down the government, affecting 800,000 Fed. employees over a wall, this narcissist must have been ecstatic having the power to impose massive tariffs, that affected the country's manufacturing industries. All, because he lacks any international commerce understanding, that import and export trade are NOT always 50/50.

Authoritarianism or Totalitarianism? Have you ever heard of the False Choice, False Dilemma, or the Excluded Middle Fallacies? I'd probably choose Democracy over the false choices that you've deposited. The real question is, do you agree with Tulsi's foreign or domestic policies, or not? Not what political ideology she espouses. If Trump would stop increasing the tension in the Middle East(troop numbers, crippling sanctions, abandoning nuclear treaties, threats, etc.), he would have no need for restraint. He is escalating all tension in the Middle East, allying America to a terrorist country(KSA), selling arms directly and indirectly to terrorists, increasing the severity of sanctions, and you admire his restraint? Wow. We need Tulsi badly, just to save us from our own ignorance.

I am not creating or attacking a straw man. I am relieving you of your ignorance concerning which Presidents have been called fascists. And you are welcome.
I am aware of all you say. I don't see where Trump is destroying worker's movements.

The country is divided, so it is hardly surprising that we elected a divisive president. Anyone who is elected will be divisive, the only question is which party the divisive president belongs to.

And I am questioning as to whether the President of the US is in fact inspiring/inciting others or if your example is just a random occurrence.

I think the wall is a good idea. I think the US should take care of its own citizens first. Others can fend for themselves.

My point is the Democracy you want to choose is simply not an option because the country has become too diverse.

The Middle East creates its own tensions irrespective of US policies. AFAIC they are all terrorist countries and we should ally ourselves with those, if any, serve the interests of the American people and I care little for foreigners.

You need someone to save you from your idealistic ideas of America's proper role in the world.

thats the 'dog & pony' show, those lost careers are inconsequential to the true elitists running the country... the gop & dnc have been in bed together for many decades, playing sides to appeal to the masses, all the while sabotaging our rights & freedoms... its one huge dog n pony show & we've all paid the price of admission...
