Not my cup o tea. The only animated 'adult' character I could ever relate to was Hank Hill, who was a mirror image of my late brother.

Prefer reality fruitcakes. 90 Day Fiance, Catfish, judge shows, etc. Can't make that stuff up. Lol

I do not watch much animation and no reality programming unless others have decided to turn it on. Aeon Flux was interesting and Misha and the Bear is very entertaining.
Other than that I just grin and endure.

@Talon Better late then never? I had to dredge this picture off a thumb drive that contained a good 1000 other pictures. Let me know if the spouse is interested... iris.jpg

Wow - Those are real nice, CD.

What kind of iris is that?

PS. I'll see if I can find a pic of my wife's iris bed to post some time.

They are bearded iris, I want to say Mist on The Mountain, but it's been years since I planted them. They bloom here in April/May, so up by you likely May/June.

Chuck Jones was the greatest. He took Saturday morning cartoons to a new artistic level.

One cartoon series that could be really great aesthetically was Samurai Jack, which still runs in the evenings (I think it's on Cartoon Network). Sadly, some of the episodes can be weak but the better ones can't be beat:

BTW, I like South Park, too, and the band that does SP's intro is pretty good, too:

    (intro ends/music begins at :49)

"Badass action" makes up for a lot of limited Animation.

I just looked them up - they're a "Wabash" bearded iris:

I don't know jack about irises. I'm guessing you plant the bulbs in the Fall so they bloom the following Spring?

The fine artwork makes up for the lame dialogue, too. If it's wit and humor you want you're much better off watching Bugs Bunny than Samurai Jack.

What I really like about Samurai Jack are the stylized and atmospheric landscapes and settings. They're very reminiscent of Japanese paintings and woodblocks:

Unfortunately, many of them are too large to post:

You can see a similar taste for abstraction and stylization that was popular in the '50s and '60s in Chuck White's Looney Tunes cartoons:

The only reason I didn't go with Wabash, is that the uprights are not pure white like Wabash, they have a very light tint to them. But close enough I guess. I believe these are rhizomes, and yes fall is planting time, though you can also plant in summer. You can overwinter in a bucket or barrel in an area that is out of the full freeze like a garage, water occasionally lightly, and plant come late summer.

    Ahh...I wouldn't have known.

Thanks, CD, and I appreciate you showing me the pictures. I think I'll buy some for her birthday when it rolls around next October. I know she'll love them.

This year, with all the daffodil and crocus bulbs she has to plant (another flat of Mount Hood daffodils is going to be sitting on on the doorstep when I get home) she wanted me to get her something for her birthday that would make the job quicker and easier so I bought her a nice DeWalt portable drill and a bulb auger. It's funny, I never thought I'd see the day when I'd give my wife power tools for her birthday but she says they work like a champ and she's happy as a lark.

Yup. I'm a huge fan of Hiroshige's wood block prints. When I was in high school art class we had to make a wood block print ourselves so I can appreciate what a great craftsman and artist he was. To this day I can't figure out how he pulled off his gradients:

You are confusing the Great artists like The Dutch Masters
to Japanese art.I was at the home of Claude Monet { it was
converted into a small Museum. His Kitchen was bright yellow}.
    I also visited the great Museum in Amsterdam { Rijksmuseum }
where one Painting was an entire side of a wall. The people in the
huge portrait were Lifesize. One was not allowed to take pictures
    in that magnificent Museum.
I bought 2 numbered Monet prints at Monet's small Museum
    at his Home in Giverny.

You will probably like this mystery/thriller set in Japan by "Scooter" Lewis Libby before the DC swamp critters pulled him under.

You separate and plant them in July. But you can plant them later. I got tons of iris. Another project .... separating and planting iris roots.

I like the older Japanese art and in my mind it is better than some of the well respected western artist's. And their porcelain work is astounding. 20191107_190740~2.jpg I like this guy but forgot his name. I think they use some kind of decal to bake the picture in. Please overlook the bad camera work. I also once visited the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. They had a Dinosaur right inside the front door. And also some excellent carved Jade from China. Also an Egyptian tomb. A gem exhibit and lots of other stuff. One side was the animal kingdom and the other side was the plant Kingdom. It went from DNA to Dinosaurs to the space age. It was huge.

    When depe
When depends on location. The further north you go, the earlier in summer you would plant the rhizomes. Plant too late, and they will not have acclimated and developed roots to survive the winter.

My collection of that particular iris started with five rhizomes... I now have close to 150 leaf fans in off season as I have renovated and spread them down 100 feet of garden.
