Is one a bigot if one rejects a candidate for office? As an old white guy, the last candidate I want to see is an old white guy. Does that make me a bigot?
Does being white change the fact that you don't like Bloomberg because he's "old, white, and Jewish"? There's nothing wrong with being any of those things, but these are your stated reasons for disliking him. How's that helpful at all? I imagine you probably claim to be anti-racist and such, but how does your view do anything other than exacerbate things?
Please tell me what the approved reasons are for disliking a politician? I don't like Bloomberg from his previous time on the national stage. I don't live in NYC, but I just never cared for the man. Is that OK? Please, tell me what would be 'helpful' to you in my thinking and evaluation?
There's no problem in disliking him. I don't support him either. If you dislike him because he's "old, white, and Jewish", you should at least explain why those things are relevant.
It's not BECAUSE he is old, white and Jewish, it just happens to be that he is old, white and Jewish. And it also happens to be that so many destructive national policies are determined by old white guys, sometimes Jewish and sometimes not. I want some young leaders, but the system is rigged against them in US politics. In case you are considering leveling the anti-Semite charge at me, full disclosure: My favorite contemporary Jewish politician was Russ Feingold, a principled American who was the only man in the Senate to vote against the USA Patriot Act. My favorite Supreme Court Justice of all times is Mr. Justice Brandeis, a Jewish man. In the last election, I voted for the Jewish woman Jill Stein. For perspective....
That's why he's being pilloried by the mainstream media. They think he hurts the democrats chance to win.
They? Does anybody really care what "They" think? (be it RW, LW, or Ind.)? I can wait for the process to play out and votes be counted.
No Einstein. The media is they. They know that Bloomberg will drain votes from mainstream candidates opening the way for the far left loonies like Warren to win the nomination, decreasing the chances for a democrat to beat Trump.
Who cares what the "media' thinks? And that "No Einstein" remark sounds rather "Trollish". You may want to avoid those sort of posts (in the future). Nothing personal of course, just a friendly suggestion going forward. Carry on.
The biggest takeaway from Bloomberg dipping his toe is the water is that he thinks nobody in the current Democratic clown car has what it takes to beat Trump.
