    I voted "Somewhere in between".

I live in the sticks which is great, but I also live close enough to a medium-sized city to enjoy the benefits of civilization. It's the best of both worlds...

Where would I rather live, now, almost eight years after this poll was started?

Just about anywhere in the United States that isn't already infested with a bunch of tax-hungry leeches and parasites who want all of us tax-payers to give them everything they want in life FOR FREE. See? Things aren't that much different since 2011 after all!

My wife and I were born, wed and lived in Michigan. In the winter of 1955 we flew to Nassau and that evening after dinner we were walking bare foot on the beach and I said to my wife "do you realize there are people that live like this". In December 1976 we were living in San Diego. When things seemed to be a little too crowded we moved to Arizona in 1996. We live in Tucson and love it. I'll never forget what a friend said to me when I was talking about moving. He said "you're in charge".

I live in what you categorise as large and like it. I get nervous and anxious in bigger cities and do not know where to turn to find what I seek.

I really blew it. It was the winter of 75 that we went to Nassau and moved to San Diego a year later.

I live in a 'village'. We call it a city, but its maybe 1000 ppl. No stop lights, surrounded by farmland for miles.

I love it, but not as much as I would love not being able to see or hear anyone else from my porch. I frequently check prices on land up in the hills.

Just were I live, 5 miles up the hill from a small town, neighbor a quarter mile away, 15 miles to my company.
Quiet, peaceful, can do what I want, when I want it, no traffic noise pollution, no light pollution, no people pollution.
Just the dogs, the pigs and the live stock and the first and the last beer.
What could be better after 8 hours of having to deal with humanity.
Peace and silence and a beer and your best friends, 4 legged

I'm a city person. I've been one all my life. The country is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

I'm settled in where I live. I won't leave here until they cart me off to the home or morgue.

I spent my entire life on the move. I'm now retired and tending my own little garden.

I live in a small city which is surrounded by the natural beauty of the ocean, mountains, and forests.

Right, going to small towns is like visiting the zoo, and if you hold their beer the locals will do tricks for your entertainment.

I live on the grid but not in any city town or village. Your list missed my very common situration. I wouldn't trade for anything.
