Not sure the student was a leader, link does not state that fact. Can you verify the leadership claim? According to the link tho.

Considering the violence and the implied violence of China's government in the past, we still have not seen the military crack down some a salivating for.
This link has a little more information on this incident, hopefully all the information the police have comes to light. Looks like they have it.

HERE is on of the leaders recently interviewed. I think this young man was just a protester.

My suspicion, he was targeted to send a message, but perhaps he’s a suicide, or an accident, or maybe a planted murder to fuel the protests by blaming the CPC.

One thing is clear, it’s hardened the protestors resolve; they truly view their cause as life or death.

I didn't notice if there was a "color" designated to this uprising, as there has been in many other protests.

Gotta give the protesters credit. This one has seemed to last longer than most of its antecedents.

In the end, though, I see this dying out; and life going on as usual.

Ironic, the left crying about Kent State, while ignoring the horror of the Soviet Union, which was using the misguided idealism of the 60's youth and served them up as propaganda fodder. Question: Would Vietnam be better off today if America had defeated the communist, or is Vietnam better off today as a mini-China--Communist with some capitalism to stave off starvation, popular unrest, and uprisings?

In Hong Kong, the idealists are fighting for the right to remain free of tyranny; at Kent, the idealists were being used to push the Soviet agenda and defend the communist tyranny of North Vietnam.

Of course, if one views the Bolshevik Revolutionaries as moral equivalents to the American Revolutionaries, one would easily confuse the Kent State tragedy with the Hong Kong idealists.

It is not the overthrowing of a government that makes one right, it is the type of government you are overthrowing, and what you are replacing it with that determines the righteousness of your cause.

The Kent State students weren't heroes, they were foolish idealists who did not understand the evil that was using them.

Democrats around the world are rooting for their Chinese counterparts. They say if you stand with Hong Kong, you need to goto a Chinese Democrat education camp and get learned up on the issue.

That’s what liberals do. They find an isolated incident against the U.S, but then whitewash the daily (hourly) crimes against humanity of leftist regimes.

Guess you better choose which is right and take a stand. I side with Hong Kong, and the founding principle of America, Individual Rights. The very thing the CPC seeks to destroy.

The antiwar movement was not misquided . We had no business in their internal affairs. It took a false flag, a lie to get us wage war in vietnam.

This was after our military and intel had evaluated us going in and decided it as a terrible move. Made known in the Pentagon Papers.

Going against this evaluation cost us treasure and 58,000 mostly young American lives.

Ironic and just a bit crazy that our govt who sent 58000 Americans to their graves 20 odd years later disemboweled america and her middle class by allowing our factories to move to communist china enabling them and financing their meteoric rise . Aiding and abetting an enemy to democracy.

Nothing about this is sensible .From going to war in Vietnam to enriching ,enabling a communist state.

The antiwar movement also got rid of the draft. This boomer generation was not gonna be so willing to go to war that was not in self defense. If our govt wanted to continue on in war mongering the only way to do it was by volunteer military. And since most war is a racket and had to contin the draft had to go.

Its got a little more heated this weekend. Protester shot by police removing barricades, and a pro-Chinese man was doused in gasoline and caught on fire by protesters.
Videos of both incidents on YouTube, may be disturbing to some so I wont embed them.

Is Beijing as evil as the protesters or are they really protesters, and not paid anarchists? You can see the video of the man doused and then set on fire on the link below. What is telling is that the man was set on fire after telling the anarchist that he was not Chinese. So if the anarchist is not Chinese, then who is he and where is he from?

This sounds very much like the Georgian snipers at Maidan, where they were being paid to kill both police and protesters so they could create anarchy and bring about a regime change. There were also snipers in Syria and of course they blamed Assad..

I can't understand why Hong Kong didn't kick out the NGO's with the first protest two years ago. Most nations will not allow them in.

    The video is very graphic.

The anarchy that has been going on all over the world these past years, could be stopped easily if there were laws that anyone wearing a mask will be shot.

These anarchists seem like a well organized group, and have to be getting their funding from somewhere. Wherever there are peaceful protests they will quickly turn them into a riot. In Athens a few years back, they entered a peaceful student protest and shot a banker and then set the building on fire - and they weren't speaking Greek. They spoke a foreign language.

    The cynic speaks.

Why don’t you ever fight for the moral? The right to live free? The right to decide for one’s self how best to live one’s life. Why are you always on the side of despots, tyrants, authoritarians, and dictators? Why is it you never side with individual and the right to liberty? Don’t you like life?

Putin is not the savior of Civilization, nor is Xi Jinping. They are vampires sucking it dry.

Curious: Who would have you sided with Thomas Paine or Edmund Burke?

Stay free, Hong Kong, life is worth the fight. Never Surrendor.

To those who will speak today rather than be silenced,
To those who will die today, rather than be enslaved,
    We salute you.

There is a huge difference between a couple freaked out National Guardsmen and the Tyrannical Gov't of China.

The US government didn't send the Guards into Kent State to kill anyone.

Glad I could help you with this.

It looks like it might trigger a slaughter but only because people like you are deliberately spinning it up to make that happen. The people directly involved in Hong Kong at least have the limited defence of that emotional involvement and being carried along in the crowd. You have no such excuse. Your only reasoning could be that you want to watch more people being killed on TV.

    Yeah, moral equivalency.
As it was the "peace movement" was the strongest arm Hanoi, Maoist China
and the Soviet Union had in the Indochina War, particularly when it became
apparent there would no rising in the South.
Not sure if the particular Kent students were involved in that "Ho ho Ho Chi
Minh" stuff. But the American left and the Chinese Right are certainly bed
    fellows.
