https://www.militarytimes.com/military-honor/salute-veterans/ I did not see any thread about Veterans Day so I want to say to all of my fellow Veterans thank you for serving and I hope that you had a glorious Veterans Day. I especially wish those Veterans who have serious medical issues as a result of service especially a complete and speedy recovery or at least no pain. Last week at the VA where I volunteer I had the sad but the honor to work our amputation clinic. This is a tough day for me but also a uplifting day. Virtually every Vet who is an amputee has a great attitude. When I work the amuptee clinic these amputees remind me how lucky I was that the Docs in Vietnam and at Walter Reed saved my leg. Oh by the grace of God goes I. Sgt. PARTIZAN ADAMOVICH , USAF Retired
It's refreshing to see a positive thread on the board. It's even more gratifying that the thread honors our nations heroes, whose sacrifices to secure our liberty should never be taken for granted. I wish that I had seen the thread, yesterday. Happy belated Veterans Day!!
Can't say thank you enough. The way I thank vets is by learning about who they are and what they have done in service of this country.
Seen somewhere on a sign...."if you want to thank a vet, be the type of American, worth fighting for".
I want and need to praise the Greatest Generation of Veterans for of course fighting for America and our freedoms but also forva very personal reason. I need to remind my fellow Americans that the Greatest Generation fought for America and for the rest of the world. Americans ( and other Western allies) fought their way into Germany and liberated the two diferrent forced labor camps where the Germans incarcerated the man and the woman who a few years later became my parents. That man and woman met in an American run refugee camp got married and started the business of forming a family. Their first acquisition was PARTIZAN. There are so few Veterans from that Greatest Generation left that I am honored when I get a chance to help process one of them at the VA. My dad who always told he that I wil serve in the American military worried but proud when I left for Vietnam. He reminded me that it was my destiny to serve the country of the men who fought and died so that I got the chance to be born and live in the greatest country on earth. America is also my country.
I hoped that we could have kept partisan politics out of this thread but that was too much to expect. Still I am proud to have served so that you have that right to your opinion.
Thank those of you who have made good and honorable comments about our Veterans and their service to our country. I shall keep my promise and refrain from political and partisan comments in this specific thread. Thnx
I created one http://www.politicalforum.com/index...-vets-on-veterans-day.564171/#post-1071149777 but it died fast.
Partizan, politics aside I want to thank you for your service. I tried to the join USAF when I was 18, but the back X-Ray revealed my fractured vertebrae when I was 17. I would like give personal thanks to MSgt. Professor Peabody Sr. (1918 - 2009) United States Army Air Corps 1942 - 1945. He was his Bomb Groups B-17 Electrician and substitute Flight Engineer on missions. Also my Dad's next youngest brother Uncle Peabody Gunner B-24 (1920 - 1943) who's plane barely made it back from Bremen, was killed in action and laid to rest in Cambridge American Military Cemetery in the UK. Additionally my Dad's youngest Brother (1922 - 2009) who served in the Navy on a mine sweeper in the Pacific (1942 - 1945) I'm proud of you all and I miss you Dad very much.
Before I jump to a negative conclusion I have to assume that you must be asking how close in age I am to the two groups. The average age of Vietnam Vets is 73 and I am sure that you know that the average age of the Greatest Generation is 96 + or - a couple months.
