A defender with a gun is by far the best defense against a murderer with a gun.

The cost of putting resource officers is an issue with many school boards and I believe one of the motivations behind the idea of arming teachers. At the same time, the legal issues related to armed teachers is very much an economic concern for those same boards because of the threat of lawsuits if something goes wrong.

I like that plan, but I'm a genuine coffee snob, so I get to choose. As far as the rest...great ideas, but it gets kind of boring really fast. No school shooter in his/her right mind is going to do anything until those guardians get up to go pee. All that coffee invites danger.

What kind of doughnuts? I like jelly doughnuts!

I am sure we could come to an agreement on the details. ;-)

yes, it's weighed on which will get more children hurt, and what impact having armed teachers toting guns mentally will have on them, by your logic we should arm teenagers in school too, same logic could be used

Nothing compared to the impact "mentally" of being forced by law into a Gun Free Killing Zone five days a week.

no impact when I was in school with unarmed teachers, they are not running a prison, I have nothing against armed security guards, the more the better, just not teachers

Why hire an army of security guards when many teachers will volunteer to carry concealed guns?

Why hire an army of security guards when well qualified retired men and women would be happy to volunteer to protect school children?

make it a felony for them to flash the gun around in class, so the students never see it and no accidents happen and maybe I would agree to that

every time that gun come out, it's a possible childs life at risk

Should have armed that kid. If that teacher got shot dead for doing that, well, I'd be ok with that.

This is not all that common, nor is it uncommon. If you looked, you could probably find dozens of examples of teachers assaulting kids. But almost as soon as the OP was put up, the racial comments started. It was an assault. Why was race dragged into it?

When I was in 7th grade, I had a habit of cracking jokes at the teacher's expense. One day after I did that, the teacher grabbed me by the ear and dragged me out of the class. I never did it again. I think the teacher was in the right to do that to me. It straightened me out immediately. That could never happen in today's schools.

I'll tell you why race was dragged into it. Because everytime a white does something to a black it's instant hate crime. They wanted to set this precedent so now, thanks to the left, EVERYTHING is a racially motivated hate crime, even though in reality this is just "a human teacher beat up a human student"

If the shoe was on the other foot, that would have been all you heard and it would be the Presidents fault and ...white people, racist, supremacist. And gotten National coverage.
