The DC area has one of the most educated populations in America. Many have social science degrees of one sort or another. Those faceless bureaucrats that conservatives like to complain about, tend to have higher degrees in social and political sciences.

Of all things, why study political science? It's like philosophy sans ethics.

Plus, you know that a masters isn't going to get your foot in the door at a university, and high schools don't really need somebody with a masters in a course that isn't taught at a high school. It's just a really curious major.

I'll go with belch. Nobody sat you down and saw all the best in a political science degree. At least I failed in the top 10 growing fields in the top quartile salaries with safe growth outlooks.

The thing about higher intelligence is that the more one knows the more one realizes that there is always more to know. As Einstein said, why fill up one’s head with facts that can be easily looked up in a book. For instance, Previously I had never known a dt466e even existed. Yet here is your answer:

it's like this... anyone that wishes to commit suicide should be given the means to do so, forthwith... the world's better off without them... ciao baby, no tears, no remorse

That's not their concern in particular. They can talk you into it with one on one mandatory sessions, which is good, so they can report that home, fine print is threat to life isn't "patient confidentiality", then you can Fight with people about being suicidal to stay in degrees that were your parents idea to do and that you're effectively working at that. You Can kill yourself when you're done with the counselors, there's no after program or whatever. Ya, obviously.

that's the problem with intelligence, those that 'think' they have it over others, don't... your link is 100% wrong for the specific application in my query...

Ask you anything, ok? Do you always post with run on sentences? JK

My daughter-in-law is a medical doctor in TX and I'm fully aware of the case load and discipline one must endure in pursuing a post graduate degree. In fact she is currently in my home town of Phoenix testing for her Board Certification in plastic and reconstructive surgery. She's already a Board Certified general surgeon and soon to be a Board Certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon.

I'm bouncing between covered patios, butter-bread for breakfast lunch and dinner, but I mean, when the apocalypse is here, what's she got I don't got?

Yeah, what does that mean? other than most degrees are in the humanities to begin with. I don't know many humanities majors who have who have taken the required science courses to be considered for medical school. Now if you take a humanities major who is using it as a precursor to med school and still taking the calculus, physics, and chemistry courses fine, you are getting a nice well rounded education. But - just because what 10,000 out of the 300,000 humanities degrees go on to be doctors does not make it a gateway to economic success. I'm glad both my kids are engineers like myself.

    Do you live on campus?

Are there nice quarried stone buildings?

What is the current campus culture like? How much hate is there? Been to any good riots lately?

Is 'alternative music' still a thing?

I’d say such people need to grow a set and stop blaming others for their weak will.

Tough choice for a doctorate IMO since there is a not a great demand for that specialty.

As far as finding work goes have you considered a career in human resources because office politics is not all that different?

The single most interesting political question that is going to be relevant in the next decade is how to deal with the rampant unemployment that will come with automation? Have you considered that for your doctoral thesis since it will require research into the impact that the industrial revolution had on employment and the politics of labor versus management.

That can be used as the basis for a range of hypotheses on how to deal with the mass unemployment which we already see happening in the closed coal mines of Appalachia. Most of the people there lack the resources to move elsewhere or start businesses.

    Best of luck.

Well actually the best avenue is to NOT take anything science or medical related. Data shows it’s not the undergrad degree that matters, but how you score on MCAT and get all GPA that’s going to get you in.

so if medicine is your dream, take history and get a 4.0. Combine that with a cram for the MCAT is going to have higher acceptance rates for med school then say a biology major with a 3.0 and similar MCAT scores.

I'm willing to wait until the OP gets some years of experience in the field. Paper experience is less than real world, so...then and only then the opinion might be slightly more valuable than that of a random guy at the end if the bar.

so, someone remind me around 2030ish about this thread, I'm sure I'll have some questions.

You will still need advanced science courses. If your don’t take them during undergrad, you will make it harder to finish medical degree.
I have a masters and my strategy was always to have at least one tough class each semester.

Ah-ha a political science major where the main goal is to teach the student the art of getting something for nothing..

    Just a couple questions.

When you finish your degree, will you really perceive yourself as having become a member of the "elite"? Is there an initiation? Do you have to fly on that private jet to the Dominican with the guy with only one eye?

It' always been my contention that research and the pursuit of the grants that allow it is more about the promised outcome of the research and not the facts. comments?

Why were African nations so prone and open to Socialism during the 1960's and is it fair to say that Africa is economically and politically inept due to its propensity to implement Socialism?

I'm sure whatever it is you want to know, Google can lead you to it. Apparently the Caterpillar engine you referenced is popular enough that there is plenty of web sites with information on it. Plus, I'm sure that one could get such information directly from Caterpillar, if one so chose.

The larger point though, is that it was person's of intelligence designed the engine you are concerned with. It was people of intelligence who determined the proper torque.

    Highest what?
    Numbers of student accepted?
    Acceptance rate per application?
What are the number of applicants and acceptances for humanities v math, physical and biological sciences?

You realize that one has to complete the prerequisite math and science requirements regardless of major?
