This year there were No woolly bears around.I usually catch a few and
put in a cardboard box with grassy stuff in my cool basement.
This Year I looked for Woolly bears { they like to crawl on warm
2 lane roads }. But I never saw a one.I think the window for spotting
woolly bears is about a week around Indian Summer time.
This year we had The hottest and driest august and September I can
recall.Must have disrupted the normal insect { butterfly } pattern.

Survived the first half day back at work. Maybe one of the hardest things I've ever done. Took a lot of self talk to get out the door. Once I got there didn't do much but straighten out passwords and visit with folks. Read thru emails and it was time to go home. Stopped by my fav tex-mex place for lunch, came home and took a siesta. Get to do it all over again tomorrow

In my 20 years here, I've never seen snow, or temperatures (21 this morning), this early in the season. I've spent many a Thanksgiving in shirtsleeves.

    This is totally RUDE.

A friend suffering in Indiana sent me this yesterday...

Apparently kite flying in Indiana in sub freezing temperatures is a thing.

So my friend in Indy says it got down to 9. He's bought his plane ticket and leaves for here on Friday.

Here ... where here.Plus what if the plane develops a sudden
aversion to arctic flying.I mean, they made movies about it.
A really good one featured John Wayne :
    - Island in the Sky - { 1953 } involving a C-47 transport plane that
    goes down { froze while attempting to stretch out their fuel supply }
and ended up in a frozen Canadian wilderness.Luckily landing
in a clearing but losing their ability to transmit any SOS or call for
help.Thoughts of cannibalism were not far off. They had few supplies
and not much chance of foraging for food.Barely able to gather enough
wood from the surrounding wilderness.I think they were also short on
    matches.

The new president actually has a goal of high speed available Nationwide by 2028. I'm just looking at putting a Kindle fire with an entire copy of Wikipedia on it in every school, particularly in areas with no internet.

I haven't heard of any change in any of our schools' policies toward Wikipedia. It has long been considered unreliable and generally unaccepted for use as a source.

If you have nothing but maybe some 60 years old text books it'd be a godsend. Plus, the program that runs it offline, kiwix, offers a lot of videos from French tv science shows.

Just a continuation of the lefts dumbing down of America. How better to teach the kids the version of history they believe... than Wikipedia.

As others have said, Wikipedia is questionable at best. Consider a more stable fact source, rather than self-edited....

Garth Brooks concert tomorrow night. It's an outdoor arena, I'm thinking leggings under the jeans, two pairs of socks, and a heated cushion for the buns. :)

I'm going to share a recipe.
    Girl Scout Cookies Pizza
    Crust
Hard meringue baked around nilla waffers. The bottom should be "browned" with brushed on melted chocolate.
    Sauce
    Strawberry or raspberry jam
    Toppings
Your choice of a variety of Girl Scout Cookies.
    Cheese
Melted white chocolate drizzled over all.

    Nutrition
    Puleeeze
    Calories
If you have to ask you can't have any.

I actually won a competition with this and there were a lot of people that helped develope it by eating all the test pies. Their sacrifice duly noted.

It's Friday night and the pickup truck stopped running at an intersection. Some nice guy pushed me into a parking lot. Jeez. I have to wait until Monday for the shop to open.
