    https://www.thedailybeast.com/john-...mp-opposition-to-win-re-election-in-louisiana

That makes two Democratic Governor victories in two ruby red states in the span of two weeks. In both Kentucky and Louisiana, Trump and his administration spent a great deal of political capital campaigning for the Republican. And in both states, the defeated Republican ran explicitly on being a Trump aligned candidate.

In Kentucky, Trump demanded. Saying, “you can’t let that happen to me.”

    Kentucky said, "no thanks."

In Louisiana, Trump begged. Sayig "so you’ve gotta give me a big win, please. OK?”

    Lousiana said, "no thanks."

    Enjoy that #BlueTide.

I wonder what sort of ripple effect this has into the Republicans in Congress?

the President is a libertarian and won because of disenfranchised democrats, republicans should have allowed him to work on infrastructure instead of ending obama care.

if democrats become pro second amendment, pro life, and pro free stuff they can take the republican base.

The impact will be felt when it comes to redistricting in 2020 where a Dem governor can stymie some of the GOP gerrymandering and minority voter suppression.

The Democratic tent is big enough to include a diverse set of beliefs.

The Republican tent is barely big enough for one Orange *******.

Expect to see a wave of GOP Resignations.

The Republicans in Congress face a tough calculus. If they oppose or dare to criticize (or even just fail to wholeheartedly endorse) trump now, they face an immediate political death because their fundraising base will dry up and the likelihood that they will face a serious primary challenge from the right increases dramatically.

If they embrace trump wholeheartedly, then they risk a slightly longer term political death because trump has made zero effort to expand the GOP political base and has hardened the opposition of everyone else. And the base, on a demographic level, is dying disproportionate to the opposition. And the GOP who embrace trump will be forced to wear those statements of support like an iron chain.

The writing is on the wall... fortunately, there's nobody bright enough in this administration to read it...

Keep sending him out....He's political poison...

I actually cannot wait until November 2020... could make November 2018 look like a blip on the radar...

I moved out of Louisiana in 2015. It's the most corrupt state in the nation. Edwards raised taxes, expanded welfare, and did nothing to improve education or jobs. He added 50K to welfare. It doesn't surprise me that he was re-elected. You can't fix stupid.

Doesn't it say RE-elected meaning "Blood Red Louisiana" already voted for the Democrat Governor in a previous election? Sounds super blood red

An incumbent victory isn't Earth shaking stuff, nor are the people you mention in anyway reflective of the prog nutjobs you run on the national stage. Nobody running for the White House on Dem side could have or would have won the LA or KY governor's seats...

    Oh? Really?

So, based on that "logic" are you considering Alabama to be Deep BLUE (because they elected Doug Jones)?

    Got it.

Anyway, back to the OP Topic of Edwards...

Trump WON the Election for him.

Glad to see Ol' Bone Spurs helping the Dems in the Deep South...:salute:

a democrat governor who had already won in a "blood red" state won again. Id say if the state will vote in a Democrat Governor it wouldn't qualify as a lock for Republicans.

    Doug Jones was governor?

Was Bell running against an alleged pedophile too?

    Non sense comparison

Bel Edwards inherited a state deep in red ink and turned it around giving it a surplus,he earned his reelection.

Conversely, neither of those two governors could win a presidential election.

You want to argue that Democrats ran the right candidate for that election? No argument here.

But the fact remains that Trump spent a great deal of political capital to try and elect a Trump-aligned candidate in both states. And both states said, "No thanks."

Trump won the state by double digits and he spent a significant amount of political capital to get a Trump aligned candidate to win. Plus Republicans significantly outnumber Democrats in Louisiana, which is why the Democrat ran on a policy set that would be pretty typical for a moderate Republican in any other State.

Its hardly very indicative of anything. 2020 is a different animal, all the candidates for governor, House, and Senate will be tied to the presidential nominee. Trump has a lot of advantages there, there won't be hand picked moderate candidates, nor did KY or LA get saddled with a prog like Comrade Sanders or Fauxahontas ruining their moderate images. 2020 isn't going to go near as well as you liberals think. All your clowns went so far left to get attention there isn't room to go back moderate enough to sell in the general and keep their nutjob prog credibility...

John Bel Edwards is pro-life and pro-2A which is not found anywhere in the National Democratic party.

    Try to keep up!

and that may all be totally true but from my perspective that doesn't negate that Bell was the incumbent
