I started shooting guns at the age of five; that was well over 50 years ago. I don't feel this "well known 'weapons effect'" has had any effect on me. I have never used a gun to commit a crime, never used a gun to kill anyone.

What "culture" are you specifically referring to? Today's modern culture in which these young men live or the so called "gun culture". I suppose I would be classed as part of that gun culture but again I have committed no crime. What is the common thread with these shooters? What is driving them to commit these horrible crimes against their fellow citizens? I can't believe that it is simply that there is a gun available. Millions of Americans own guns and don't commit mass murder.

Aside from taking all the guns away what can be done to stop these crazies?
While I agree the number has increased significantly in the last few years, the US has always had a large number of guns. As for availability, I feel guns were more available in the past. When I was younger guns were sold in the pages of hunting/outdoor magazines. Send them a check and they would mail it to your house. Kids drove to school with rifles in their pickups. I do feel the media, with how they report these shootings, only make things worse.

Law enforcement has now disclosed they seized several undefined unregistered weapons from the home of the shooter. They also are trying to determine if the .45 he used to commit the shooting was home assembled from either online disassociated parts or home made parts since the weapon apparently has irregularities not normally associated with a .45.

High school kids used to have guns in their trucks, at school and school marksmen classes. No one got pissed and ran to get their gun and shoot up the school.

Side note, took my dog to the vet today, teased him and asked "I have a 6 ft diamondback rattlesnake wit an an abscess that needs draining" He said "I have a gun in my truck" lol

Maybe the solution is to eliminate state schools?

Is that supposed to be representative of all teachers?

My brother, who teaches 6th grade science, is a former police officer and military with 2 tours in Afghanistan.

That along with a school resource officer should be able to handle situations like the one in the OP

When I went to public schools in the sixties, kids didn't kill one another. And you almost never heard of such a thing. I think that there was about one incident nationwide, usually mutual combat/fight between two teens, every couple of years. This year alone, they say there have been 70 different incidents already. And yes, the general population had plenty of guns in the past. I remember that even K-Marts had oak whiskey barrels set about the floor filled with surplus war rifles that could be had for eight dollars. People would customize them for fun.

I have four bills gathering dust too. Think I'll drive down to my local sporting goods store tomorrow and spend them on a new gun.

Guns have no place in civilian day to day life, useless for anything other than what their designed for.
If you really want a gun then grow a pair and join the armed services, you then will be given a firearm for free.

Writing stupid laws that violate the Constitution and pretending it will do something is worse than giving up, it doesn't solve anything...

Sorry, the Constitution doesn't agree with you. There is no reason whatsoever for anyone to give up their Constitutional rights just to appease sappy whiners who don't even understand why we have a 2nd Amendment...
