What does any of this have to do with my statement that your position is outside of the mainstream of modern Conservatism? Are you trying to claim that you represent mainstream modern Conservatism? Hint, this has absolutely not one thing to do with Donald Trump. It is about you and YOUR politics. Nothing else.

Are you trying to call yourself mainstream? Can you answer what I actually said for once? Please stop going off on these bizarre long winded non-sequiturs.

I suggest putting your energy into structuring your life so that national politics become less upsetting to you. Build a life less dependent on “someone else” for your peace of mind. The notion that we need any perfect political party or conservative movement to make life fulfilling is what caused the mess you lament in this thread. As long as we continue to treat government/political parties as the god from which life satisfaction and emotional stability flow, that god will continue to control thoughts and actions. An oath of fealty results in subjugation no matter what a party or movement labels itself as.

Do it. Walk away from it all. You will be glad you did.

Even middle schoolers know the Democratic Party is the party of government. It lives to feed and grow the bureaucracy.

Conservative judges side with the Constitution. I know that sounds like a crazy idea to liberals, but that’s what we believe in.

Conservative judges don’t pick who they want to win in a legal case and then twist the law to support their decision.

Funny you should bring up Chomsky. Especially with him talking about William Buckley. When I was a kid, I used to watch Firing Line. I always thought of it as the only show with smart people on it. By time I became an adult I had come to the realization that Buckley wasn’t as intelligent as much as he was just snippy, and came to see Buckley as a fraud. In fact I came to see the whole National Review crowd as being fraudulent intellectuals, and by extension the whole of conservatism as relying on fraudulent intelligence. Global warming is a prime example. Those who deny it tend to use fraudulent arguments. In fact, I think that most arguments that come from Republicans tend to be on the fraudulent side. Like Trump never colluded with the Russians and was only being a perfect president making a perfect call when the whistle blower came along.

I know some will argue this point, but the idea of a conservative intellectual is kind of a joke. Half of conservatives think education is a bad idea.

I was first drawn to liberalism because I was drawn to intellectuals who all seemed to be liberals. Personally I tend to see liberals and conservatives as being from different ends of the intellectual spectrum. The other day I saw an article that began by going on about the intellectual poverty of liberals. But then it went on to say that conservatives have plenty of intellectuals and then went on to cite Dennis Prager and Jordan Peterson. I’ve watched enough of their videos to know that like William Buckley was, they are fraudulent intellectuals. No wonder so many conservatives are anti school.

he 'was' the trojan of the dnc, a lifelong democrat elitist... they (hillerie's dems) thought for sure that trump would 'kill' the republican party (which was on the verge of self destruction), it was meant to be a 'sure fire' end to their means... a chillery victory.

note, that on that fateful night, in the early hours of morn, when it was announced that trump won & they panned the camera to him, he was in total shock himself because he wasn't supposed to win...

quite possibly, afterward his ego took control and told the dnc to "f*** off", and did what he does best, make things right, at any cost...

the dnc followed up with the tirade and the vengeance to 'get even' and here we are today

Why is it, you think, that every time a Republican gets elected the national deficit and debt grows by leaps and bounds while the deficit shrinks under Democratic Presidents?

A fine example of the fraudulent nature of conservative thought. Start with Reagan and his tax cuts that were going to pay for themselves. But instead, the debt nearly doubled. Clinton became president and the deficit decreased to the point where there was a net surplus and the debt was beginning to get paid off. The Bush came along and said deficits didn’t matter and blew up the deficit. When Obama became president, he tried to get Republicans help him fix the national budget, but Congressional Republicans were so upset that a half Black man was elected, they refused to do anything to help him, even if it meant destroying the country. Yet Obama rose above it and cut out the waste in government and brought the deficit down quite a bit. Then Trump comes along and once again we are burdened with the inane idea that tax cuts pay for themselves and once again the deficit are blown up. It has gotten to where a fiscal conservative is one who cuts one’s income and covers it with ever more debt.
