Sure they can. They can impeach him for pretty much anything they want, because the meaning of "high crimes and misdemeanors" is not laid out in the Constitution. All Congress has to do is decide that whatever he has done fits that description, and they can impeach him. The Senate will then decide if they think he did what he is accused of and whether or not it warrants a removal from office.

 

Starr was initially appointed to investigate the suicide of deputy White House counsel Vince Foster and the Whitewater real estate deal from when Clinton was governor of Arkansas. When they couldn't find anything indictable there, along came Linda Tripp and her tale of Bill and Monica Lewinski. Clinton lied about that relationship and that lie got him impeached by the House but not convicted and removed by the Senate.

I suspect the same thing will happen here, with the House impeaching and the Senate not convicting/removing, but unlike Clinton, Trump's presidency will not survive the process. I think it will leave a stain and a stink too big to get reelected next year.

 

You do realize that keeping 2 books and using one for taxes and the other for financing is, in the very least, shady as ****, right? Properties are normally hooked up to electricity. Keeping 2 books, meanwhile, is not a normal practice and is often associated with tax fraud, bank fraud, or both.

 

Not constitutionally can they impeach a president for anything they choose. It is not hard to discern what high crimes and misdemeanors meant to the framers. It is not the seemingly low hanging fruit that the Gladiators think they can just pick and run with.

There is nothing to prevent either H Clinton or Obama being prosecuted for a crime now. Th DOJ says there is no reasonable prospect of convicting H Clinton, and there is not even a suggestion that Obama committed any crimes.

The only thing preventing Hillary and Obama from being perp walked into prison is decorum and long standing precedent for administrations to not go after their predecessors. If you think Obama was aware or involved in criminal activity you must have been asleep during his failed presidency...
