Nothing in the quote you provided, said it has to be a crime within the United States.

It only asks for the name of the authority conducting the investigation and the nature and status of the offense as applicable to law. Those are it's only requirements besides Section II, where it does require it in writing, but it also allows for other avenues of acceptance, provided it is in writing within 10 days unless the Central Authority of the Requested State agrees otherwise.

You could argue that Zelensky agreed otherwise in the phone conversation, and that fulfills the obligations under the treaty.

I think and i could be wrong that your giving Roberts more power in this process than he'll actually have.

Mitch does in fact hold almost all the cards in the Senate just like Nancy does in the House

If Congress subpoenas him, he'll testify. But what would be the purpose?

    YOU said:
"Roberts is already indicating that he will not let the trial become partisan so y’all are probably out of luck. Mitch has no power here."
Demonstrate how your cited text from the Constitution proves any part of of your opinion.

Had he altered it, clicking the link to the response would go to your unedited response.

    It does not.

I may be, its just my interpretation of the constitution and several articles I have read on the subject.
No one really knows how this will play out.

"Under the plain terms of the US Constitution and Senate rules, Roberts could wield a powerful gavel and rule on evidence and witnesses. Senate impeachment canon, dating to 1986, says the presiding officer "may rule on all questions of evidence." The chief justice's decision would stand unless overruled by a formal majority vote of the full Senate."

Who holds a majority in the Senate?

It's perfectly OBVIOUS that ol' Geriatric Joe doesn't want to have to testify UNDER OATH about anything having to do with corruption in Ukraine and the REAL 'quid pro quo' that he instigated there.

Oh, I'd LOVE to see what lengths Joe would go to now to walk-back from that loud-mouthed bragging about his strong-armed "son of a bitch" antic with the Ukrainian oligarchs a few years ago, or to listen to his interpretation about how his cocaine-huffing son, Hunter, got that $50,000-a-month gig with a Ukrainian energy company, after being thrown out of the U. S. Navy Reserves. But, GEE! Why do we doubt THAT will ever happen...?! :roflol:

[IMG]. "And now I know how to say "son of a bitch" in Ukrainian, too!"

I think that if a Dem or a RINO ignores a senatorial subpoena during a Presidential Impeachment trial then that politician or person of interest will be arrested and will be forced to appear . . . to take the 5th Amendment right IN PUBLIC, if nothing else. An opposition party can't Impeach a president and then get away with declaring the testimony of THEIR partisan thugs . . . off . . . limits.

Which he got deleted. So you can't see the original to see that he altered it.

See his 166, where he cut out the substance of my 163.

a majority vote can overrule Roberts though. Republicans will likely have that vote

No. Thats the facts. The spin is based on the assumptions of people who didn't have contact with Trump.

No, find out if he's guilty and lock him up if he is. We have to demonstrate how we are better than Democrats.

You were provided a ton of content on why your view was ridiculous... and you ran. Then you quoted me and removed specific detailed elements that crushed your ridiculous views, which should be against the rules as it changes the content of my post. I would be surprised if other members with opposing views take you seriously after your display of dodging and playing the poor little victim. Everyone sees it. Have a nice day.

Joe Biden will not have a choice. Well, he will, but the alternative may be prison for the corrupt pile of crap that sold his office for family gain. The reason why his testimony is so important, is that when the Republicans prove to Americans that he indeed shook down the Ukraine for personal family gain that it becomes 100% exculpatory evidence exonerating President Trump. That is the reason why the MSM and Democrats do not want the truth to come out.
